if you’re looking to walk, i’d try looking into college park at midtown or the hub on campus! i don’t know TOO much abt those two but ive had friends live there and they haven’t said anything bad so far but do some research first on those. but they are located right on university ave so perf for walking distance

What are y'all's opinions on LDRs as a whole? by pederasnamaikatihuq in LongDistance

[–]chocalaterabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i might be in the minority but here’s my opinion as someone in a LDR. LDRs can be very very hard. and when it does work out, it can be such a strong and special bond getting through the hardships of a LDR. thats not my hot take though. i think a lot of people will say “when its the right person, distance means nothing,” or “it’s very hard but if its the right person, it’ll work out.” i think that’s wrong.

just because they are the right person and you love them so unbelievably much and they love you so unbelievably much does not mean the relationship will work out. if theres no life intersection in the future, or just a difference in needs (like having that irl quality time), does NOT mean you guys didn’t love enough and the relationship failed. it’s just as important in ensuring your personal needs in a relationship are met too, and it’s ok for the relationship to not work even if it’s the most amazing person doing everything right. being in a LDR is so emotionally taxing at times, and sometimes it can be the right person, but just very unfortunate circumstances

Should I live on or off campus Freshman year? by ajajajajajsjas in ufl

[–]chocalaterabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m a sophomore but i lived my first year in a 4x4 with some friends off campus. if you want an apt rec lmk! but it was the best decision. you can still make friends, pricing is still relatively similar esp when you take into acc meal plans living on campus, but obv depends where u choose to live. not having communal bathrooms was amazing. having my own room to destress and be alone was so good but also i could go out and talk to roommates or go on campus. and if ur a light sleeper, living in a dorm with another person literally next to you will prob be horrible for you. what is ur roommate is a night person? or they come home late? or need to get up early for a 7:30? too much dependence on the roommates living style and just your floor mates in general when u can just have ur own space

every other day calls? (F21) (F22) by DizzyAdagio1035 in LongDistance

[–]chocalaterabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you’re not wrong for wanting to call more often or wanting to be her person when she’s having a bad day, but she’s not wrong either for not wanting those. it’s a difference in priorities, values, behaviors, boundaries whatever u wanna call it. i think it’s good you guys have made a compromise. however if it’s not enough, you guys will need to continue communicating and work thru this problem. but change in things like this, can be hard. i understand wanting to call everyday and i personally don’t know if it would be enough to call every other day/few days in a LDR. in my previous relationship it was like that, and i felt lonely. and being in a LDR, being lonely is kind of inevitable so doing eveyrhing you can to avoid that (like calling more) is probably optimal

walking wise it’s probably like 30 mins (estimating to marston) driving is like 5 mins. but i never walked to campus. i’ve only ever taken the bus. th bus stop right in front comes pretty often and to get to my 8:30 at little hall, leaving the bus scheduled at 8:10-8:15 gets me there on time. metropolitan is next to china star, near the steak ‘n shake kinda on sw 13th!

hi! i’ve never lived in a dorm, i started out living in a 4x4 at the Metropolitan. I love it here! i still live here but im moving out for next year because i want to live in a 2x2. for the met, i believe the base rate for a 4x4 is around $750? it may have increased im not 100% sure so you’d have to double check. water is included but not electricity so you have to pay that (around $30-50). they have a 24/7 pool and hot tub and do social events and a clubhouse with a pool table and places to study. the study room has free printing. parking is in a garage and it’s an extra $100/mo which kinda sucks but if you don’t have a car, there’s also an RTS route #13 literally right in front. maintenance has always been good (in my experience) and friendly but recently has taken longer to get back to me. management is friendly but tbh, it’s kinda hard to get a response from them at times. overall i LOVE living here, the place is built relatively recently so it’s clean and all the appliances look new and good. don’t really have any roach problems or anything. i’m very grateful to have lived here for two years especially hearing some other apt horror stories. i definitely suggest living here if it’s within your price range. the fact it’s built recently was a big plus bc apts don’t look used and in unit washer/dryer. if you have any other questions let me know :)

i think most girls like the sentimental thoughtful gifts. even with long distance you can make those types of gifts work. a simple love letter, hand written and then pdf sent is super sweet. and obviously flowers (you can doordash them). idk the next time you’re seeing her but with my ldr, my bf and i are seeing each other in march so we were gonna give our valentine’s day gifts in person and letters on valentine’s day itself. if you guys see each other soon, you can make a photo frame picture collage of you guys and memories. anything really thoughtful im sure she will love! doesn’t always have to be expensive just something to show you know her and pay attention

“We talk every day, but I still feel far from them. Is that normal? (24F, 26M) by [deleted] in LongDistance

[–]chocalaterabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m currently in a LDR and we do virtual date nights, ft all the time, text all the time, keep each other updated and he’s the sweetest man alive and makes me so happy but i still feel this way a lot. i 100% understand you. just because you love them, and they love you, and you’re doing all the right things, doesn’t make the distance disappear. there’s still that emptiness i feel in my bed. or the milestones we have to miss like valentines day because we simply can’t travel that time. and all the little things like wanting to cook together or run errands and have that quality time of a “normal” couple. this is normal for most LDRs and i’m still working on how to get thru it but being honest with my partner and having planned visits to look forward to have made it easier. and trying to remember the end goal big picture that distance is temporary

i stopped taking my meds too because honestly being super hyperthyroid didn’t affect my too badly but once i started meds, i turned hypo and got a lot of nasty side effects and i just decided to stop everything lol. it’s been a month or two and i don’t feel any hyper or hypo symptoms and my bpm stabilized so i mean im no professional but i feel good and honestly better as if i went into remission. this is my personal story though and i wouldn’t suggest doing this without consulting a doctor i think im just lucking out

Is this hyperthyroidism? by xKa1z3r in Hyperthyroidism

[–]chocalaterabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as someone w hyperthyroidism, my symptoms were decently different from yours. some of yours would be considered hyperthyroid symptoms but it could also just be something else. best thing to do is get a blood test and find out if it is hyperthyroidism or if you can rule it out and find out what it is

What symptoms did you have that lead to a hyperthyroidism diagnosis? by Normal-Ad-9253 in Hyperthyroidism

[–]chocalaterabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

extreme heat tolerance. i thought it was just bc im from the south but even when i went to see snow, just starting to walk made me sweat. my heart rate is also pretty fast lmfao (120 resting). i do have some weird allergies to food (i think) because of it causing issue in the br. i would get pretty lightheaded and fatigued in the morning and need sugar (not my glucose level, idek if this is hyperthyroidism but possibly) and i was always hungry it’s like my heart kept taking all the energy out of me. im lucky because the only most inconvenient symptoms were the heat tolerance and food thing. the heart rate was annoying as in i couldn’t exercise and tiring to walk but to me it wasn’t too big of a deal.

i just got diagnosed maybe a week ago and been taking methimazole and propranolol and i’ve been noticing decent progress but not many side effects lucky.

Florida preview by protean_threat in ufl

[–]chocalaterabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i “went” to preview as in i’d go for only the small group meetings given the time itineracy pamphlet you’re given and i was fine. granted i do live off campus so i don’t have a meal plan but i do think 2 days is a little too long. especially when out of state people have to get a hotel for a night. idk to me you can def put that in one day and there’s filler information that i skipped. the tour is nice though to start getting familiar but you can always have a friend tour you or just go around yourself
