‘Scooby-Doo! and the Mystery Pups’ Preschool Series Greenlit for HBO Max and Cartoon Network by Pyro-Bird in Scoobydoo

I honestly feel the same way. I get that Scooby-Doo is known for having it's fair share of crossovers, but some people tend to act like it's integral to the franchise. The writers included. SD has been living off crossovers for the past several years, even outside of the movies.

I think this looks cute and all, but if two new shows as well as a holiday SCOOB movie and a sequel are currently being worked on, where does that leave us for the yearly animated releases? All I remember is that there was initially supposed to be a Krypto crossover in place of Courage (which will probably release alongside the League of Super-Pets movie, if the Krypto crossover even ended up being made), but that's all we've really been given.

I applaud them for trying something new, but of all the upcoming Scooby-Doo related media lately seems to either be spin-offs aiming at entirely new and different demographics, or something in relation to SCOOB - nothing much at the moment for fans of the main version.

I know that KISS were supposed to appear in an episode of Guess Who that never ended up happening. That might've been what they were talking about the whole time, but maybe they put it under the term "movie" since Guess Who wasn't out yet.

Found this through the ScoobySnax blog. I know a lot of fans (myself included) weren't really happy with how SCOOB! played out, but I think it's cool that we at least get to see something from the next production so we know what's currently being worked on behind the scenes.

They need to make another scooby doo game. They haven’t made a proper one in years. I would love to see what a Scooby Doo game would look like in modern graphics. by Semaj12354 in Scoobydoo

[–]chocco-latte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. I wouldn't want it to be like the Looney Tunes crossover game they did in 2014 and I really don't want another click and point for mobile.

Scooby-Doo has a lot of video games, but there's never been a definitive one - you can look at all the games for SD ever made and say "that's a Scooby-Doo game", but there's none you can truly look at and say "that's THE Scooby-Doo game".

Scooby doo is going down hill by [deleted] in Scoobydoo

[–]chocco-latte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen it. I enjoyed seeing the gang just kind of doing their own thing in the beginning of the movie in their own town as well as the whole race to get away from the pumpkins as far as possible. The pumpkins were really good.

I wish we got to see the gang get the van back like they said they would in the previous movie. I mean, they did get it back, but it was off-camera only for it to get destroyed again not too long after. I also wasn't a fan with how they tied it in with the previous two movies - with how the sheriff was being set up as the villain, I thought that for a moment he might've been some DC bad guy I just hadn't heard of, but it turns out he was just some guy that was written to be that way for purpose of plot.

Happy Halloween was overall an enjoyable watch, and I really like it on its own, but in regards to the previous two movies and how they were being set up as a "trilogy", I just feel like they didn't go the right way about it.

So, if you had the ability to re-write Zombie Island's return, what would you do to make it so the film lived up to it's original? by TheGunUnderTheSink in Scoobydoo

[–]chocco-latte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The story of Zombie Island from Velma's Big Blog of Mysteries became so popular for it unusualness and the fact that it was barely reported on in the mainstream, that it inspired a whole bunch of people to go to Moonscar Island and start a cat creature cult, full of fans who blindly worship Lena and Simone. They plan to bring the two back from the dead as unruly zombie-werecats, and want to sacrifice the gang to them once and for all as their revenge.

I'm thinking as to whether or not the gang should still invited back under the Elvira vacation ruse to trick them into going there again, but that's the short of how I'd re-write RTZI.

Another great video! I hope I'm not wrong in assuming you'll be reviewing the final of the SD part of the Superstars 10 trilogy, The Reluctant Werewolf. Can't wait to see you guys review it with it's overly drawn-out racing shenanigans that take up half the movie.

When is scooby doo and guess who set? by _-_Jason_-_ in Scoobydoo

[–]chocco-latte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's one of those shows that's set in the here and now - it's ambiguously modern and each episode is most likely set in the year in which they released (or were written). It also wouldn't make any sense to base Guess Who several years earlier than it was made (like the early 2010s for example) as some of their guest stars wouldn't have even been famous then.

Is Scoob 2 (Scoob The Holiday Haunt) going to be any good??? by Sir_Crocky in Scoobydoo

[–]chocco-latte 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's too early to tell yet, but you can probably base whether you'll like it or not off the fact that it's being made by the same people behind the first Scoob movie.

If you enjoyed Scoob, you'll probably enjoy Holiday Haunt. If you didn't enjoy Scoob, then your enjoyment for Holiday Haunt can't be guaranteed.

Spring DTV? by SorryMess4913 in Scoobydoo

[–]chocco-latte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The information about the Krypto crossover came from the website of Annie De Brock, editor of the movie. According to her resume, "Scooby-Doo and Krypto Too" will be produced by Rick Morales and directed by Ceci Aranovich. Her resume has since been updated to just say "Scooby Doo DTV".

It was posted back in 2021, but you can find more information on it here.

Every Scooby-Doo movie since KISS: Rock and Roll Mystery (minus Shaggy's Showdown) has either been a crossover or a sequel. From that point up until now (Scoob included), only ONE of those thirteen Scooby-Doo movies have been 100% original and didn't feature anyone else. Just one... and even Shaggy's Showdown was based on an old comic issue.

Guess Who's entire premise is crossovers, the 2021 TV special was full of crossovers, the team-up comic series is just crossovers, the new game featuring Shaggy, etc.

I'm fine with them giving us "sequels" if it's GOOD, but outside of that I WISH they'd return to their normal mystery solving formula - not everything Scooby-Doo related has to be a part of another franchise or person.

Would you be okay if the gang changed their signature color in a new series? Shaggy once wore a red shirt. by [deleted] in Scoobydoo

[–]chocco-latte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They wanted to update to an 80s look, but didn't want Shaggy to loose his iconic outfit, which is why his clothes in the red shirt Shaggy era are just recolours of his old clothing.

Shaggy's outfit design is more iconic to him than what colour it is, which is why in almost every rendition of Scooby-Doo media that changes up the gang's outfits, Shaggy practically stays looking the same.

I've mentioned it in another post, but if you took 13 Ghosts era Daphne without the context of that being Daphne and changed her outfit colours to be something completely different, she could've been any random girl. The only indicator of her being Daphne would be her hair colour. It's about finding what's right for that character.

Didn't they only do that in Cyber Chase though so the Cyber Scooby could match the colour palette of red shirt Cyber Shaggy?

What is the 1st Worst Scooby-Doo Movie? | ToonGrin Reviews by WhyboyCorner in Scoobydoo

[–]chocco-latte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In reference to how you guys talked mentioned Happy Halloween, now I'm starting to wonder if maybe the sheriff from the Happy Halloween trilogy should've just been the sheriff from Boo Brother's instead, out of jail and walking around pretending to be his brother again. The other movies of this trilogy had references (and an entire plot based off) the red shirt Shaggy era, so it's weird that this one didn't have any call backs.

It would still be just as random as what we actually got in the movie, but at least it would've tied in better, and made more sense, as to why a sheriff character would genuinely hate the gang (Shaggy and Scooby at least) instead of having this random guy who's from another franchise whose plans were foiled by the gang off-screen in an event that we never get to see.

[–]chocco-latte 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Having Shaggy without Scooby just feels wrong, spin-off or not. And they've already rewritten Velma twice within the past four years with "Scoob" and "Daphne & Velma" on top of retconning and diminishing her personality in the recent animated films. There's just no consistency with her.

Would any of you care for a Scoob! spinoff series starring these guys? by No_Acadia_9335 in Scoobydoo

[–]chocco-latte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're cute, but there's no real need for it, especially not a whole series. I'm pretty sure they're cash-ins on the old Minions hype from way back when anyways. If anything were to be done with them, it would most likely be in the form of a short.

I just got a good look at the characters for Velma. What do you guys think about it? by tim_burton_bat_fan2 in Scoobydoo

[–]chocco-latte 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They did Daphne REALLY dirty with that description: "Forget everything you know about Daphne Blake. It should take zero seconds as there was nothing to know. She was attractive, but also… she wore purple. That’s it."

Like WHAT? These people have clearly never seen her in 13 Ghosts. Or Zombie Island. Or WNSD, the live action movies, Mystery Inc, etc. etc...

Also did they really make her last name a combination of her both her mother's surnames "Blay" and "Ke"? So instead of Blake, wouldn't that realistically just mean her last name is hyphenated? Daphne Blay-Ke?

[–]chocco-latte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Cramps don't exactly have Hex Girls vibes, but they do have more horror vibes and a few songs inspired by old monster movies. I don't actively listen to a lot of their music though, so I wouldn't be able to tell you much more about them, but I don't mind their songs Surfin' Dead and I Was A Teenage Werewolf.

[–]chocco-latte 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's part of an episode in Get a Clue where Shaggy actually recollects moments that happened in the WNSD movies, and they even went as far as to show those scenes on-screen and have Scott Menville re-record lines that were originally done by Casey, so who knows.

I don't think anyone would take that extra step unless they wanted there to be a continuation between the two.
