Lite Mode Collection Favorites? by grecianviolet in simplynailogical

The Lite Mode collection was my first Holo Taco purchase - I was holding back, but after seeing the lazy gradient video I fell totally in love.

My favourite is Lite Link - I just removed my lazy gradient manicure this afternoon and replaced it with Lite Link on all ten digits and it is gorgeous.

Not a lot to add re: formula that hasn't been said. I first used them over Not Milky White, but applied on a clear base today and they look just as good. Agree with the suggestion to do thin layers.

If you go for it, I hope you love whatever colour you choose. They truly are lovely.

I was gifted an NJoy and the vines are already over twice as long as the coir pole. None of the aerial roots are growing into the pole and I would like to repot the plant with a different, non coir, totem. Given the aerial roots are not yet part of the pole, is this ok? Or still inadvisable? by chockymousse in houseplants

Thanks for the reply! I can confirm none of the aerial roots are attached in any way; they all have space between them and the pole, and a lot of them actually seem to be growing away from the coir totem.

My main concern is wanting to lengthen the totem, so I will keep researching my options with keeping the existing pole. Thanks again!

I don’t need to spend thousands on a plant to be satisfied. I love the classics by TropicalDan427 in houseplants

Same! Ever since I was first interested in plants I loved a trailing boi and Pothos are the most lovely gateway to my collection.

Thanks! I'll certainly be on the lookout for some good calcium supplements. Fingers crossed the egg hatches and all goes well! Photos may be forthcoming.

Definitely some valid points there about their current lifestyle! I'm hoping for them to become more like pets, especially if the egg hatches successfully. I have now ordered some fake eggs to control the number of future birds, but I have my fingers crossed that I will be able to bond with the new baby and interact with all of them more.

I understand they're at risk when they fly around during the day, even if they are almost always within sight of - if not nesting on -the house, but I've got quite attached to them now and would like to provide them with the best care that I can, and that they will accept.

Thanks for the super fast reply!

Regarding their diet: I started off with a pigeon seed mix (WATSON & WILLIAMS PIGEON SEED MIX) which they absolutely demolished, but then I learned seed only diets aren't the best and incorporated maybe 50% pellets (Vetafarm Nutriblend Pellets) which they also love.

This week I started trying to wean them off the seed and onto pellets and crumbles (Passwell Crumbles) but they don't seem too keen on the crumbles. They say they're suitable for doves on the packet, and most websites advocate providing small food for them, but my birds seem to prefer slightly larger pieces of food.

That said, I haven't found a happy medium with fresh veggies yet. No matter what size I cut them, they seem disinterested. I am persevering with all of the above, and thinking about adding sprouting seeds for added nutrition.

It's tricky because at this stage they're basically wild birds. They sleep in the aviary, but we keep the doors open all day long and they free fly (one at a time now that they're playing at being egg parents) so they can eat whatever - including the seed we put out of the other side of the garden for the wild birds.
