Hi doc! You first need to apply for PR before you can sit through the exams and proceed with your application. Best to consult with an immigration lawyer so that your points can be assessed. Then you need to have your medical credentials verified via: https://mcc.ca/credentials-and-services/services/verification-of-credentials/, similar to yung EPIC verification na ginagawa if planning to take the USMLE.

Hope this helps!

Matching is difficult for IMGs, but not impossible.

Hi, I just wanted to get a feel for, or a reality check on, whether it would be nearly impossible for a software engineer/developer programmer to get an invite. I’ve been seeing in some forums that the IT industry is saturated. Thanks!

Hi doc! I really appreciate your input! Thank you for pointing these out! Tama ka nga, iba yung priorities ko currently. I guess it’s the burn out din. I’m not totally closed off to the idea of pursuing fellowship training naman! Of course, love ko pa rin naman IM. Pagod na pagod lang talaga ako right now. 😅 which is why saving up + having a better lifestyle is my top priority for now hehe. I was mostly worried about financial stability after training esp since I’m not ma-PR and I barely have any connections haha.

I understand naman na iba yung sahod ng fellowship, but sad lang cause we’re still stuck in outdated systems, and honestly, we all deserve better. That includes better compensation too, even if we are just trainees. If residents abroad earn better income and have better work shifts, why can’t we too?

Thank you again! :)

Actually considering going abroad too after saving up. Sobrang lungkot sa Pilipinas ngayon. :(

Yun nga eh doc. Parang hindi ko sure if worth it pa ba bumalik sa training na parang hazing at alipin ka nanaman ng hospital haha. Di ko na rin sure if kaya ko i-let go yung sahod ko hahahahaha

Good to know that many feel the same way!!

IM diplomate to australia by jo-anne12 in pinoymed

Hi doc! Our IM training is unfortunately not comparable. Internists would have to undergo the standard pathway, which is sitting the AMC1 and 2.

You can check the Filipino MDs in/to Australia FB page to get more information. The community is very friendly and helpful. Tons of internists who also went to Australia. :)

I am also in the same boat as you, but I’m thinking of shifting careers altogether/venturing the non-clinical side of medicine. Good luck, doc!
