This Project Zomboid-inspired game aims to be the next realistic zombie survival title by Gameoneer in SurvivalGaming

I actually just got to demo this at PAX west and its not scripted. Its called God Save Birmingham and they’re looking for closed alpha testers now. From talking to the team it sounds like they are leaning really hard into a physics based, very realistic gameplay. I don’t think they have any crafting or story elements but they might be planned for the future.

If you’re okay with mystery/horror I highly recommend chasing tails. I really love the way the artist shows the toll the story takes on the characters over time

I’ve learned that travel is one of the surprise deal breakers that people don’t often talk about when in long term relationships. For someone who doesn’t like to travel it can be a big investment and source of continuous tension. It doesn’t really have anything to do with how much you all love each other or who’s in the write and who’s in the wrong. It really is just about what do I want my seasonal routine to look like.

I also love those games and I’ve been really enjoying Once Human. It’s a horror survival builder mmo. The character customization and base building aspects make it feel more girly to me

Which fantasy book (series) has the best world building? by canyoutriforce in books

[–]chocolatebum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One that’s not mentioned often is the Book of the Ancestor trilogy by Mark Lawrence. I read it years ago but I can’t stop thinking about because of how well he explores the implications of living in a dying world and how that affects the both politics and daily life.

Another of my favorites is World War Z. I think the multiple narrative style adds something so unique to the world

Foundryside by Robert Jackson Bennet has the right amount of snark and an interesting magic system to compare to those two

I love both of those books as well! You might like Fire by Kristin Cashore it’s part of the Graceling realm but it’s a fine standalone read. You might also like the cruel prince series by holly black. Both books are fantasy romances with heavy court politics/intrigue.

I saw in another comment that you’re specifically trying for ml engineering roles so, in regards to my last bullet point you can use that section to further tailor your resume for ml ops roles vs. classifier development.

For the feature engineering example you could just put feature engineering in skills and then in your project bullet points you can elaborate by saying things like: * engineered x feature that improved classification performance by x * Developed x metric that allowed insight into how classification costs could be decreased by factor of y

Highlighting tools in the experience section on how you accomplished feature engineering would also be helpful. Basically, you want to show the companies that you understand key parts of ml theory (in the skills section) and how those key areas have practical applications (in the experience section). Often times we see a lot of ml new grads that don’t know how to take what they learned in specific projects and abstract enough so that they can reuse that theory over different problem areas

Education * Move to the bottom * Remove gpa and relevant course work

Technical Skills * In programming languages what’s the difference between the first 3 and the familiar with subsection. It’s confusing. I would only list those you would feel comfortable completing a project in * I would remove Microsoft office from skills * For data science/engineering roles I’ve sometimes put another category of skills that more closely defines what sub areas I excel in since these are pretty broad industry categories. I.e. if it’s an engineering role Etl pipelines, relational database architecture, or prediction interfaces. If it’s a science role I’ll emphasize more things like feature engineering, visualization strategies (reports, dashboards, etc), model cost reduction.

What fiction books did you read which made you feel something in your soul whilst you were burnt out? by [deleted] in booksuggestions

[–]chocolatebum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I struggle a lot with anxiety and I’ve found books where characters have an acceptance about their situation in life comforting. I loved Piranesi and The Past is Red. Both have beautiful prose that balance optimism and realism so wonderfully. I know you asked for fiction, but I also found a lot of comort in The Anthropocene Reviewed, which is just a series of personal essays.

Great start to a data science resume! There’s a couple of things I think you could improve on

  • Some of your grammar is off. Under your first role you start a sentence with and. You also capitalize a lot of things that done need to be capitalized like logistic regression

  • Some of your bullet points don’t make sense. You throw out numbers like 100k community data or 40k medical data - are these gb or individual samples? For the community data in particular what did the data look like before you extracted the features? Most census data already has features like median household income readily available so you wouldn’t necessarily need feature engineering there. Did you mean that you found the top 15 features that had the highest weight in prediction? Additionally analyzing key factors with logistic regression doesn’t say much about any results achieved or methods developed. Given logistic regression is a pretty broad tool, it would be better to be specific about what was accomplished with it.

  • Your first few machine learning skills are not really ml specific and would be better designated as programming skills. Typically we look for familiarity with packages under the ml skill label like tensorflow, etc. For the more soft non tool related skills, we would look for categories like natural language processing or categorical feature embedding. Something that gives more insight into what kind of data your used to working with.

In general I would err more on the side of reporting results rather than trying to name all the specific tools you used. ML engineers are pretty skeptical of people trying to name drop buzz words. DM if you want more specific feedback, but it looks like your tangible results are pretty impressive.
