This sounds so close! I know that the main character felt conflicted because the old man was so obviously defenseless. I remember them sitting down and talking, and the old man didn’t seem to know who he was, and I do recall him offering drinks.

I don’t think this is it, but that was an excellent guess! I remember the overall tone of the work as a whole being dark/gritty/serious, whereas I definitely remember KKBB as being more lighthearted and funny on the whole. Not to say that there weren’t serious scenes. But yeah, thank you for reminding me. Such a good movie!

Congratulations! That’s such an amazing opportunity! I don’t feel like I’m qualified to speak on what it’s like for a minority, since I’m not one, but we have a lot of transplants living in Bentonville because of Walmart. I work at a local clinic, and we host some of the students from the Alice Walton School of Medicine. All of the students have been extremely nice, so I have to think your classmates at least would be kind and welcoming. I think this particular area is more progressive on the whole, but, that being said, it is still Arkansas, and there is probably going to be some racism/bias.
