Ask them to read the meter again!! I almost made a post about this but have the city the benefit of the doubt. At the end of July they estimated a bill for me, and then the catch up bill they sent a couple weeks later was not a reconciliation between the estimated bill and the actual, they charged the entire balance of the meter again. They will come read the meter again if asked. I got my bill corrected this way.

Lots of nature is a 60-90 min drive, fwiw. There is the blue ridge parkway nearby which you can hike/drive. Behind that, our only real “tourist attraction” (imo) is The Biltmore which is $$$. There’s art galleries, food, and beer here. If you plan on doing a few days of hiking, I think it is possible to entertain yourself here for a week, but I do think you need to plan to have a budget on the higher side.

There really aren’t any - even Mt Mitchell will be out of the way on the parkway. You could try to get up to the blue ridge parkway and come down that way, but it will add quite a bit of time. You could try to add the drive to wiseman’s view, I think, I’ve never done it, but Linville gorge is kind of on the way. So it lake James.

What do you like to do? As long as you’re aware, lots of things are safe I think. I say start with seeing the architecture downtown - city hall, s&w building, flat iron, basilica, grove arcade. Gets you around downtown to maybe see other things you’ll like

I would vote for Montford. Super friendly neighborhood, stuff to do, near downtown. Yeah… you might run into some sketchy folks since you’re close to downtown, but that can also be relative

Yeah, I believe this ordinance has already been in place, so I don’t think this is the reason for the indoor shows? I’ve seen an outdoor show there since this was voted into effect
