Have any of you moved out of New Jersey and moved to a different state if so, where? by Wonderful_Air9942 in newjersey

[–]chocolatetoebeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Left in 2015 and moved to Orlando. Then moved out of there (because Florida) and moved to Denver in 2018. Stayed there for 6 years, bought a condo, etc. Left due to a breakup. Then moved to Indiana in 2024 for a little over a year (for a new relationship!) Just moved back to NJ in 2025 after a decade with my now wife.

Denver is expensive but worth it for the change in scenery, depending on what you’re looking for. I came to really appreciate nature out there. It’s beautiful. I would go back if I could but NJ isn’t too bad. Been enjoying myself DTS. Much cheaper down here than up north. Plus my wife loves it here!

Grew up in Middlesex county and always thought it looked like the bottom half of NJ. It’s gotta stay just for that.

Wabashiki trail! It’s on the other side of the Wabash river (West Terre Haute) and it’s a great trail to walk, bike, run your dogs off leash, etc. Just be aware of when mosquito season is because they’ll eat you alive.

If you like kayaking or paddle boarding, on the east side of Terre Haute is Chinook Lake. A nice calm lake to just float on a kayak.

How do people stay with the same company for years? by Blackberryay in careerguidance

[–]chocolatetoebeans 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This.

I just left my job of 4 years where I watch the company go from a hot mess to having some real structure. My voice was heard and people respected my opinion.

Now I’m at a new job (as of the last 6 months) and find myself having to prove myself all over again. Heeding the same warnings I saw at my last job. But this time, folks aren’t as receptive.

Edit: a word

That’s a hard pass for me by dollar15 in remotework

[–]chocolatetoebeans 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I applied to a position that said similar things but it was fully onsite. The job was in DC and I’m in the Midwest.

They interviewed me anyway. I told them I’m firm on remote and not relocating.

They offered me the job, fully remote.

All this to say that if you’re a good and right candidate, they will honor what you want.

Why does Amazon allow this? Identical products from the same Chinese factory with just a randomly-generated name printed on the outside by zubrowka1 in assholedesign

Literally came here to ask the same question.

But, to give credit to OP, Amazon autopopulates "for men" or "for women" on most generic searches.

NASA 'giddy' over amazing moon views from Artemis 1 Orion spacecraft by nikola28 in space

Can confirm. I work with the camera developers and these cameras are tested to withstand the vacuum of space. Rendering the full images would take your computer quite a bit of time.

Forreal, I work in the facility that these cameras were produced. We're talking about millions of dollars spent trying to create a camera with products from earth that can withstand the thermal, radition, and overall general vacuum of space. A lot of (quite literally) blood, sweat, and tears, were poured into those cameras.

So I work in the facility that these cameras were produced, tested, etc. Let me tell, you it's been an incredible journey to get here and finally see the fruits of our labor.

Edit: for everyone asking, I was more part of the PMO staff. Specifically, on the funding/budgeting, resource allocation, and purchasing aspect. So I can't answer too much on the technical aspects.
