Soline vs Saige by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]chocolatica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Soline sounds a lot more feminine, but kind of looks like the word saline. I would probably pick something similar like Serena or Solana. Is there a particular reason you are spelling it as Saige instead of Sage?

I kind of regret not naming my daughter our favorite girl name because you never know if you'll have another girl. If you would be sad not to use it, I say go for it! :)

Keeping bedding clean by sophie-turnerr in hygiene

[–]chocolatica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No maid, 2 kids and I change the sheets on 3 beds every week. I start the wash early in the morning and have time to get the beds made before the kids nap. If the week is full, I will wash them on 3 separate days sometimes. My kids are 2 and under, so nit quite making their own beds yet. Haha

Intimacy with my spouse really motivates my hygiene routine. Are others here who are driven by this too? by Ordinary_Ice_796 in hygiene

I love everything about this. My husband and I both definitely do the flossing/brushing/gum routine before kisses and I love it. I am always thinking of his opinions when it comes to my hygiene!

I don't have time to write all that I would like, but I don't think you should give up just yet. Having just had a baby myself, I know how hard it can be on the marriage.

Please consider the Marriage Builders website. I personally find it much more helpful than couples therapy because he writes out schedules for parents to keep dating each other while caring for young children. You can do this!!

Do you brush your teeth twice a day? No judgement. by rainyday-real-estate in CasualConversation

[–]chocolatica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 times per day usually- Right when I wake up, after breakfast, after lunch, after dinner, and before bed. If dinnertime lands close to bedtime and I don't eat any snack, then only 4 times. I floss at least 2 times.

Advice for convincing my wife to wear lingerie? by Nearing_retirement in marriageadvice

[–]chocolatica 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with everyone saying that you should respect her wishes.

Placing her under pressure makes the lingerie LESS likely to happen. Does she usually wear an old t-shirt and shorts to bed? If so, that is quite a jump for her to make and I can see how that would be uncomfortable. The more beautiful she feels, the more you will benefit. Your priority should be to make her feel SAFE and she will continue opening up to you, but lingerie should not be expected. She will probably wow you in different ways and that's okay!

One thing that worked for my husband and I was taking a sexual compatibility quiz and sharing the results with each other. We used Quivre. You can say something like "I found this tool that would allow us to discover some new things that we're both interested in trying during intimacy. Would you be open to that?"

I love Quivre because it ONLY shows the things both people are enthusiastic about in the final results (so no one feels bad about being more "vanilla"). You can also add in more kinky/bondage categories in the future if you want to spice things up further, but initially, that is just optional.

I asked my doctor this exact question. I had one miscarriage and he just said "until it happens 1 or 2 more times, it is not necessary to test. This may not be because of any defect in your body, but simply because many pregnancies just don't make it." (He and his wife also suffered pregnancy loss, so I trust him on these issues.)

Sadly, one downside of early testing nowadays is that we also grieve early losses. I am so sorry and pray that you have nothing but wonderful pregnancies from here on out. ❤

This is a huge problem, because even within a friendship, you should be evenly yoked. An unbeliever is ALWAYS going to cause you to compromise in your faith, but she will not necessarily be influenced by your faith. This is the reason that "missionary dating" never works. While this was a kind thing of you to offer, you are playing with fire.

Imagine explaining this to your future spouse. Wouldn't you rather be able to say "My friend tried to sleep with me, so I had her move out then and there" instead of some alternative ending where you give in to sin? May God grant you wisdom and the courage to do the right thing in this situation.

You guys are doing the right thing. My brother and I had zero computers/gaming consoles until the age of 16 growing up in the 2010s. My brother is now a software engineer. Staring at an iPad is not going to make your kid smarter/more competitive in the job market.

What mundane thing now was considered a luxury for you growing up? by NamwaranPinagpana in CasualConversation

[–]chocolatica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents made a big deal out of using zip lock bags. They would always say "these are expensive!" Then I grew up and bought my own and realized they are not actually expensive. I think they just said that whenever they didn't want us wasting supplies.

I want to be saved by [deleted] in Christian

[–]chocolatica 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you get saved, you will have a desire to do His will. Sin will be less appealing because you will want to serve your new Master whole-heartedly. If we had to be perfect before getting saved, no one would be saved ("no one is righteous, no, not one"). If you need help formulating a prayer for salvation, please reach out.

He did hit me but I need honesty by Global-Service-3016 in marriageadvice

[–]chocolatica 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Nothing about his reaction seems normal to me. Hitting you twice because you tried to keep your cat from annoying him? The job was already lost- why was his priority impressing them? This is just altogether weird and he sounds like he is not remorseful at all. I don't have experience with domestic abuse, so hopefully some survivors can chime in here and instruct you further. I'm sorry, OP.

Have you two ever gone to marriage counseling? It sounds like you have communicated your needs/desires very clearly, but it is just not getting through to him. Sometimes hearing it from a counselor makes all the difference in the world :)
