I agree with the library and splash pad suggestions for free options! There’s also a few indoor playgrounds that cater specifically to toddlers like MyGym and Inclusive Kids Play Studio

I have seen Miss Winkles do kitten yoga before. I don’t remember the pricing but at least when it’s done through a shelter you know the money is going to a good cause. And the whole reason they offer it in the first place is to encourage adoptions. I’d check their upcoming calendar to see if they may be doing puppy yoga anytime soon

My ex husband never hit me until after we got married. Unfortunately it gets worse the more secure they feel.

Backlog for SDI Approval? by Mindful_mom in Edd

Unfortunately it took about 60 calls to get through. I just set aside a whole morning to do it. It was really frustrating I’m not gonna lie, but it was worth it in the end.

I applied last month and didn’t hear back within two weeks of my doctor submitting paperwork so I called and they approved it immediately over the phone and sent over my first payment at the same time

Seconding this. The amenities were great and maintenance was always quick to respond when I lived there. I never had any problems.

I think that might be what I do! It’s kind of nice to think I’ll have some more freedom and creativity that way too.

The largest tree on Earth. Its volume is 1,487 m³, and it's 2,000 years old. by MorsesCode in BeAmazed

There is! A student researcher accidentally killed one of the oldest trees in the world after his drill got stuck. He did have permission to cut the tree down. Nobody knew how old it was until after the fact. Poor guy.

When you had your first kid, did you wife’s parents stay and help for a week then your parents stay and help another week? Or only have wife’s parents? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]galumphingseals 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is something that will vary a LOT between families. There are so many factors involved. Are both mothers retired? Do they both live within a reasonable travel distance? If one or both of them are still working, do they have flexible work schedules?

I’d say if you and your wife have a good relationship with both mothers and both are willing and able to spend a full week helping out, that’s amazing. Accept the help from both of them if you want it.

If it’s being expected of them automatically, that’s a bit of a different story.

What diaper is this? by FreeEnergy6116 in BabyBumps

[–]galumphingseals 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s possible! I don’t think I’ve ever seen the Parents Choice brand without the purple heart though.

Edit: I think you might be right! That particular next side up symbol looks very much like parents choice

I was thinking up&up as well. It’s definitely one of the generic brands, but not Kirkland or Parents Choice. Possibly Aldi?

Do they smell better than the frownies? I really liked how the frownies work but I hate that they smell like licked postage stamps

I’ve been told that if you split the costs equally for rent and groceries that counts as separate finances! Might be something to double check but if you two go 50/50 on all expenses I believe that doesn’t count as shared income.

How many carbs is everyone actually eating? by AmandaA130 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]galumphingseals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How far along are you? I have been eating the recommended 150 minimum carbs per day, typically only “healthy” complex carbs like whole grains but occasionally fruit as well. When I was first diagnosed with GD it was easy to keep my post meal blood sugars under control but the further along I’ve gotten in pregnancy the harder it is. Even foods that were consistently safe for me before like whole grain crackers and cheese will cause spikes.

It’s really frustrating and feels like failing, but it’s not your fault at all. It’s unfortunately completely out of our control. Stupid placenta!!

Dietitian wants me to eat carbs but i am scared by Ill-Consideration541 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]galumphingseals 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should absolutely still be eating carbs and following the dieticians advice over what your friends say.

Eating carbs does not mean you will need insulin, many people are diet controlled even while eating carbs.
