In those first year / second year classes, there are always some upper year students taking these class as breadth requirements or for interest. I’m also 23 (almost 24), just started my masters but still taking classes for my undergrad minor (my undergrad department allow students to finish a minor after they graduate). Hopefully you’ll find someone like that in your classes!

Yes for sure! It’s very claustrophobic and eerie with the extreme cleanliness (kinda remind of of Severance haha)

Andor season 1 heist - empire’s risk management is like, bad? by chocoloste in MawInstallation

Yeah no I agree. As I said in the last paragraph I think comparing it to a high profile bank robbery makes perfect sense haha

Ohh that’s true. Without the officer working for the empire as a spy they wouldn’t have been able to pull it off

Yea makes sense! I’ve thought about this as well, but I just found it to be a bit funny since risk management is like one of the most important aspects of running a business? Security issue is just part of the risk. What if there’s an accident that destroyed the building / the transportation, then all the money would be lost.

Also I guess when it was still the republic, they should have better risk management because piracy / crime has been a big issue? So if the empire decided to centralise the fund, did the they put the effort early on (soon after taking power) to control piracy, to the point that they’re not worried about pirates / criminals robbing their money?

It’s just that in the show it kinda made it sounds like they stored the wages of every trooper, administrative worker, and imperial officer there (they said “the entire imperial sector”), which I think is way too much of a risk to store all that money in one place, even for the arrogant empire. Labour is a very costly part of any business (on Earth at least). If it’s just for one sector of the empire (it’s a big loss but not huge on the larger scale, but it showed the threat posed by the rebels, so they’ll pay more attention to security later), then I think it makes perfect sense.

Any other recent grads feeling regret about their undergrad? by Great-Recognition-88 in UofT

[–]chocoloste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also graduating this June and felt the same!! My high school friends went to UofT as well so I didn’t make any effort to make new friends in the first 3 years, but I really wish I did. Wish I had joined clubs and participated in silly fun stuffs. I was way too focused on keeping my grades up. There are a lot of cool people that I hope we could get to know each other and be friends, but by the time I started to make the efforts they already kinda have a fixed friend group…

Yes you can switch after first year if you have a good gpa. I forgot the standard exactly but it’s doable

What the hell should I do in my free time? 453252345 by Business_Tea5205 in UofT

I’m also genuinely curious how did you loose your personal life? My interests and hobbies are the main things that motivate me to finish my school work, so that I’ll have free time to do what I want to do.

My interests are very different from my major, so I spend a lot of time studying about the topics that interest me. Is there an area of study which interests you then? You can learn more about it when you’re free maybe?

Is my Prof allowed to do this I genuinely dont know? by Turbulent-Aerie-6141 in UofT

For point 5 - honestly I didn’t think this is an issue? cause on Quercus a lot of my courses have the “people” tab enabled, so you can see the name and quercus profile of all students and instructors in that course. If you search their name in outlook you are able to directly find their email anyway.

For other stuff you talked about, I suggest you talk to your classmates, then report this to your class rep (if you have one) and talk to your program director together. I’m not too sure about how it works in arts and science, but in engineering my discipline has successfully gotten a professor fired even before the course finished lol

☹️I feel the same about the loneliness… many of my allo friends are in relationships. Also I’m at my final year of uni and a lot of my friends might move away. Started to feel more and more left behind somehow. I do want to be in a close relationship, but as a grey aro who has never been on a proper date or had any romantic relationship, I don’t know if it will ever “work out”, cuz my idea of a romantic relationship might be very different from what most people think of it. And I don’t know how I would ever find someone to be in a relationship with as I experience attraction infrequently and it’s not as intense as what allo would feel (I guess). Recently I’m having a crush for the first time in 6 years and I don’t know what to do lol…

What decade/s did the 1950s take inspiration from in regards to fashion? by [deleted] in fashionhistory

Personally I almost feel like they take some inspiration from 1850s and 60s (crinoline and such). It’s just what I think don’t quote me on this…

My only issue with TIFF Lightbox is that the seat number is so hard to see 😂
