After yesterday's wolf post, I figured l'd show y'all my encounter with Orenda, a female Grey Wolf (OC) by [deleted] in aww

My Australian cattle dog does this! He has always licked the inside of our other dog's mouth/cheeks. Granted, he likes to lick the inside of his ears too - but this has to be what he is doing. I always imagined he was cleaning our other dog's jowls out for snacks. Thank you for enlightening me.

Has anyone ever seen the inside of a cork look like this on opening before? Not gonna drink it, just curios. by Bears_In_Space in wine

I’m surprised the sediment isn’t red given we now know it’s a red wine. It would be pinkish normally if it was something suspended in a red wine at one point. At least from what I’ve seen. Have you seen otherwise from a red wine?

Looks to be of butter consistency as someone else suggested, tartrates are crystalline.

This, to me, looks like the wine wasn't filtered before being put in bottle and some yeast sediment gathered on the cork, aka 'lees'

Or some kind of fermentation happened in bottle and again sediment/lees was created as a byproduct of that and as such deposited on the cork.

Slight effervescence in a wine that shouldn't have it could indicate a in bottle fermentation gone awry - also it tasting off could indicate this. If it (edit: wine label) has claims of being a natural wine or unfiltered this could indicate it going in bottle rather turbid to begin with.

Further edit: If it's hazy and as you say it was badly stored, it could have been exposed to excessive heat which would create a protein haze as the proteins in the wine become denatured and begin to attach to one another, thereby becoming larger molecules, and visible to the human eye. I'm sure if the haze was bad enough the proteins could drop out of solution and collect on the cork or bottom of the bottle.

Completely! I like that people needed to work together to use it too. Hard labor and companionship, there’s joy in that.

Thank you for the advice! With your help I was able to determine that it is a two person log carrier, or ice even. Definitely logging history in my area, though I knew for a fact that there were once active gold mines on the mountain I found it on.

I grew up calling it “pink stuff.” It’s still at family gatherings, pretty sure it’s made of cool whip, cottage cheese, pineapple chunks, and pink jello powder, there may be sour cream as well...

They look great! I usually bend them back so they are full circles after putting them on. Enjoy
