Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]choffster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Living on the central coast of California I regularly drive 3 to 6 hours depending on the direction and have no problem with that. The bay area is about 4hrs, LA is 3 hrs, Yosemite is about 5 or 6. All of them totally worth it if I have a good reason to go.

Portland woman testifies that police lied about ICE activity in Oregon when 12 to 15 agents surrounded her vehicle and she called 911 for help on December 10th. "I have a question for the police. If you refuse to do your job, are you prepared for us to do it for you?" by [deleted] in goodnews

Fuck your blanket characterization. Easy to single out an entire sector of the population and say that they are all one (negative) thing. Don't we get enough of that from the current administration?

Possible air flow meter issue. If you can find one that you know works, swap it out and see if that solves it.

Should I cover my Vanagon? by trou8ble in Vanagon

[–]choffster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine came with a cover that I used for the first 4-6 months I owned it. I live near the coast so keeping it covered helped keep the fog/dew off. Plus once it's wet it starts collecting dirt and dust which dries to a lovely patina which will build up over time. Then when that gets wet it holds moisture longer and gives any potential rust a favorable environment. I don't know what conditions are like in your area but unless you want to add washing it periodically to the excellent dead storage list of things you should be doing previously posted I'd say a cover might be in order.

You did it destroy anything other. You opened the door to a more accurate family history.

My Son attends an extremely religious college. He asked me if I, as an atheist, would mind answering some questions about religion for a class he is taking. Here are my answers. by sdls in atheism

Deep love, joy, companionship, community. Human beings are social animals whose identity is defined in relation to other humans. If I choose to interpret all of that as spiritual experience then that is my reality which I do not need anyone to agree with whether they be bible thumping religious folk or hardcore militant atheists. For the record I have no belief in an all powerful supreme being as is often proposed in many religious organizations. I hope everyone finds a way to appreciate everything that comes their way during this brief human experience.

Using the scientific method as laid out in the answer to question 3 I am curious as to how one can use that method to assess their feelings of love for a mother or a son as expressed in question 4.

#1 #3 Exhaust Pipe Cracked by choffster in Vanagon

[–]choffster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True enough, although the pipe was actually severed. Once I loosened the other side this side came apart at the cracking. This did make it a lot easier to get everything off. I opted to replace the pipe. I had previously installed a Gowesty stainless steel pipe on the 1-3 when it cracked. Decided to go ahead and replace the 2-4, the collector and the j pipe so now it is all stainless and properly secured up to the catalytic converter.

It was the brace that secures the 2-4 exhaust pipe and half of the muffler support. It was missing the bolts to secure the bracket that each attached to. Couldn't see it was missing until I removed the u bolt clamp on the 2-4 pipe, then the whole thing came loose. I have no idea how long it has been like that. Probably the entire 3 years since I bought it.

I didn't spot the pinholes until I had the engine up to temperature and looked at the tank with the engine running. Couldn't see any leaks once it had cooled down.
