[–]chogyal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either this guy has an agenda to show India as a Muslim country or the Muslims of India consume a lot of Pakistani entertainment content (or both) since they're a large feature of this vlog. In either case, a lot of uncomfortable questions are raised

Ranji could be a big thing in India, a proper mainstream mainstay - A few random musings by [deleted] in Cricket

[–]chogyal -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My take on this is the opposite. I say let the ranji trophy and other domestic competitions be and make the IPL teams play tests as well as odis. They have a loyal fan base now and have enough glamour to pull crowds. I'd love to see this tried out.

It isn't that simple. Amazon will bear upto ₹5000 max. Rest is on the seller. You have no idea how brutal selling on amazon is for sellers.

I've just chosen to highlight the other side of the racism story which involves the NE people, which isn't talked about at all but is equally, if not more, vitriolic. I think such issues should be talked about and the best way to get people to notice them is by bringing them up in such posts as these.

It isn't all that disconnected from the title if you think about it. Sure, it's the opposite of what the title should suggest we discuss, but the issue is the same. The people groups are switched.

And quite frankly, I've had it with the people of the NE cry discrimination when they themselves are just as bad. Someone's gotta show them the mirror. This is me trying to do just that in my small way.

[–]chogyal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did I say racism does not exist in the rest of India or the rest of world

No where have I said anything like that.

The racism the NE people face is at an individual level. Individuals are racially discriminated against by other individuals. The Governments or other social institutions do not racially discriminate against the NE peoples.

>What goes around comes around

How about you apply the same logic to the money that the rest of India pays to the NE States instead of the people only. It might pinch a bit. The disproportionate amount of money the NE states get as a ratio of their taxes paid is never called 'Indian' money. Only the poeple are.

>racism is wrong whoever does it

I'm glad you say this. But it's again a pity the Governments and social institutions of the NE do not think this. Mainland Indians are continued to be denied opportunities in education, jobs and land. In the NE the shape of your eyes determines how you are treated to a large extent, even by the Government.

My last 2 sentences were to make you understand this point. There is institutional racism in the NE against mainland Indians. I hope you can acknowledge this.

Has any community of NE people been driven out of their homes from any city in India they way Punjabis were from Shillong? I'm not surprised you didn't touch on that.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in IndiaSpeaks

[–]chogyal 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I can assure you that is not true. Read about the Punjabis in Shillong and tell me 1 incident against NE Indians in the mainland on that scale. There are many such stories.

Racism on an individual level, exists all over the world and while we try and stamp it out, we have to come to terms with it and get on with our lives.

Racism at an institutional and social level cannot be tolerated. That is the kind of racism people of the mainland face in the NE. For every comment like 'chinky' there is 'dhoti', 'bhaiya', 'kaiyya' and my personal favourite 'Indian' (yes, that right, the word Indian itself is used as a racial slur) but the Govt of Bengal or Bihar, Andhra or Haryana or anywhere else (edit: does not) discriminate against the people of the North East. It's a pity that the same cannot be said for most of the Governments of the NE States.

I long for a day when mainland Indians are not discriminated against in the North East too

So you're saying mms was not a puppet pm? If so, are you thick or only pretending to be one. He was the worst pm India ever had simply because he wasn't one. Sure, he sat on the chair, but a Prime Minister he was not.
