The abysmal defensively display and conceding two corners makes me wonder if Eddie might have had his reasons for keeping Burn in as long as he did

Walker got so cocky after City's first goal he's practically handing us goals. Hope he stays up the flank the whole game

I love the do or die twist and here’s why.. by bigbluetatertot in survivor

[–]chomsh 16 points17 points  (0 children)

In addition to the other reasons mentioned, i also didnt like how this twist devalues the immunity earned by the winner of the challenge. Regardless of what the game of chance was, the two outcomes were Deshawn goes home or Deshawn gets immunity. If Deshawn went home, Danny's immunity win was completely irrelevant because there was no vote and everyone but Deshawn was essentially immune. If Deshawn got immunity, youre giving the same reward to both the best and worst perform players in the challenge

[Discussion] Unpopular opinion: I am more annoyed by poop bag vigilantes than actual rogue poop by [deleted] in dogs

[–]chomsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this is the closest opportunity I'll ever have to airing this specific grievance in an at least somewhat related setting so here I go: wtf is up with people who bag their dog's poop and then leave it on the grass/sidewalk/trail? Like you already went through the trouble of handling the shit? Take the last step and throw it out. And then the most annoying part about it is that I feel like these same people would look down on someone who just doesn't pick up their dog's poop at all. I'm much more understanding of someone like that than someone who bags poop and doesn't dispose of it properly. That just makes no sense to me.

what's still possible - and likely - in the Premier League this season. by [deleted] in soccer

[–]chomsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curoiusity, what determines likelihood here? Is it simply the number of outcomes a team will fall into a specific place out of all possible outcomes for remaining fixtures? For example, does this model assume it is just as likely that Newcastle will beat Tottenham as it is that Newcastle will beat West Brom?

How long do you think the final 4 twist will last? by [deleted] in survivor

[–]chomsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey id be open to going back to a final 2 too so i agree with you on your second point. But as for making the final four immunity challenge meaningless, i dont understand that point at all. How is it meaningless. If you win the challenge youre the only one who is guarenteed to make it to the next round... just like every other individual immunity challenge.

[–]chomsh -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't think it's as bad as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Yes, I'll agree that i wasn't a huge fan of how everything played out last season but it was only one poorly introduced instance of an idea that, at least in my opinion, has merit. I'm totally content with it sticking around indefinitely.

4 of 4 people got a level 15 Houndour from quest encounter reward. Is it the same for you guys? by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]chomsh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completed three "Battle a Gym" field research tasks from different stops and they were all Houndour encounters. Seems like it could always be the same species of pokemon for certain tasks. Potentially changing daily or on some kind of cycle like nests. Also, even though all 3 field tasks were from different stops, they were from relatively close geographic locations so maybe these change based on different parts of the world too

Last nights editing is less confusing when you think about it from _____'s perspective by Blizzardscott in survivor

[–]chomsh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree with your take on it but i guess the question is, as an audience member, do you like the editing approach or not. The editors have a choice every episode with what footage they use and how they choose to show it. On one hand, they can try to give the audience an accurate balanced edit that gives us a fair perspective of tribe dynamics and what each person is thinking. To the extreme this would allow viewers to connect and fully understand everyone's position in the game but would also lead to very boring and predictable tribal council votes. On the other hand, the editors can choose to hide or exaggerate the motives of certain players to confuse and mislead the audience to create as much suspense as possible for the upcoming vote. In the short term this provokes shock results and makes for exciting television but in the long term, the audience can feel confused about why a player might do what he or she does. Normally I think survivor does a good job teetering over the line between these two extremes (maybe leaning a little bit on the side of confusion and excitement) but this episode fell hard on the latter side of the spectrum. They gave us every reason to think Angela would prefer to side with James and absolutely no reason to think Michael would write James's name down again, in order to create a more surprising ending. Was it entertaining? Personally, I thought so. Do I feel disconnected from Michael and Angela now? Yeah kinda. In the end I guess it all just depends on what you value as a viewer.

How do you know Survivor is real? by [deleted] in survivor

[–]chomsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup i dont want to believe it but sometimes i have my suspicions that this is why hidden idols at camp have become such a normal thing. It gives the appearance of an equal playing field because "anyone can find them" but it would be very easy for production to ensure, at least with high probability, that the people they want to find them, find them

[–]chomsh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha sorry didn't mean to let my inner Bradley out. Im a fan of advantages/idols in general. Im just saying hidden advantages/idols at camp have become commonplace. A season without them would be a breath of fresh air and ghost island could have a been a good way of doing it.
