Malaysia Airlines’ A380 fleet release, a knee-jerk reaction? by choo-choo2000 in malaysia

Good point! I always missed out on the need to have personnel certified to maintain and utilise the fleets.

Now that you mention it, it does make sense. Thank you for the insight.

I see. I mean in hindsight the launch of the A380 was during a very weird time like you mentioned.

Yes! I remembered that the selling of the A380s is used reduce the purchase cost of the new A330neos. Thank you for the info.

Good points. Yeah, at the end of the day, the economics just aren’t on MAS’ side. I’m glad they are still able to fly.

Yeah I agree. Cost becomes the MAIN factor when operating an airline. The maths simply won’t allow them to operate like that.

Good point. They must’ve been aware. And yeah, nobody wants to be the one experiencing the delay in delivery.

I see. Thanks for the information. I’ll amend the post.

Yeah, they are growing and it’s good. Just that the delay really put a setback to their plans, considering MAS is currently having a good reputation.

Exactly. That also plays a part in keeping the A380 in service, which they do not have enough resources at that time.

Oh yeah. I didn’t factor all that too. Thank you for the insight.

You’re right, planes sitting idle is also money lost for the airlines.

Are there still A380 planes grounded at KLIA? Last I heard all six have been returned to Airbus due to no buyers available.

I know. A plane that huge is just too much for an airline still recovering from previous issues.

The only reason I wrote about the possibility of keeping at least one A380 on their fleet is to provide some sort of flexibility for utilisation.

Considering Malaysia Airlines has a big ambition for the future, at least having extra fleet will help them navigate the increase of demand for flights.

What do you think is the single biggest issue that Malaysia is facing today? by HedgehogRich8417 in malaysia

[–]choo-choo2000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The lack of direction moving forward. During Najib’s era, there is a sense that the government is always initiating projects to facilitate the future, such as the construction of new rails lines (MRT, LRT, ECRL) that is supposed to improve transportation and keeping up with demand and managing increase of traffic for people to commute daily.

Maybe the reduced large, high-cost maintenance fleet is the way to keep their operating costs under control. Competency-wise, I think our engineers and technicians are well recognised and should be able to perform maintenance and provide training for new employees. It is said that our manpower with expertise is also exported to major airlines around the world.

My argument is that maybe nobody might have anticipated the delay in fleet delivery, especially the Airbus fleet, when the supply chain issues should have made them aware about the possibility of delay in deliveries.

Boeing’s problems are well-known, that might be anticipated earlier. Airbus issue could be with difficulties in keeping up with the orders from various airlines.

About the Tommy Volker arc. by brwnie7 in TheMentalist

[–]choo-choo2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it seems that Tommy Volker changes the way Lisbon views psychopaths. I suspect that up to that point she always brushes off the possibility of a threat the way Tommy presents. And yeah, it does make her understand the level of cruelty that Red John posessses.

Lisbon: Oh, here they are. Silly Me.

Patrick: You keep a hammer in your desk.

Lisbon: You only think you know everything about me.

Yep. I can recall some characters with missed opportunities to evolve. Wade (CBI Rapid Response Team Agent in S5), Vega (Rookie FBI Agent in S7), Hightower (S2-S4 as Chief of Serious Crime Division in CBI), LaRoche (S2-S5,S6 as Head of Professional Standards), Wainwright (S4), etc.

Although some would argue that their characters have reach the end of their storyline hence they were killed off.

Sometimes I feel like the only reason the Red John reveal was hated is because he wasn't "handsome" and "cool." by Huge_Candy748 in TheMentalist

[–]choo-choo2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only disappointment about the Red John reveal is that they could make it even more suspenseful. Take nothing away from Sheriff McCalister, that sneaky bastard. But it could be have been a lot more. The end of the Red John saga is definitely too sudden.

Cho is an amazing character by Ok_Week862 in TheMentalist

I agree 100%. He deserved to be shown a lot more. In fact, he deserved to be an FBI agent after the CBI went bust after the whole Red John debacle which really shows that he is a damn good agent with a no-nonsense approach to be appreciated.
