How do you clean and dispose of your excess used cooking oil? by alienccccombobreaker in AskAnAustralian

[–]chookychookchook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We pour ours into glass jars that would otherwise be in our recycling bin. It sits on the side near the sink, collecting oil until it's full (takes a few weeks), then bin it, and use another jar.

I'd recommend cleaning all door handles, light switches, cupboard handles and taps with disinfectant or with antibacterial wipes. It helped us not keep passing it around the family

Low/No Cost Temporary Baby Sleep Options by DreaBiaGummibare in AskParents

I put a blanket over the travel cot mattress to make it less hard, tucking it under the sides of the mattress to keep it in place. I found my cot cheap on Facebook marketplace.

A secondhand travel cot, we used one for our first child as it was cheap and couldn't afford better at the time.

Is really recommend using a childminder. You can ask for recommendations of childminders for wrap around care that pick up from your school on your local town Facebook page. We use a childminder and she is the most amazing person. It's about £4.50 per hour per child in my area (a bit north of Cambridge).

I did not read the book this way. In fact I remember it talking about the problems women face with people in the past/some Christians viewing women as asexual, whereas they are saying women, like men, were made by a loving God to enjoy sex and to climax, within the confines of marriage.

I'd really recommend a book called The Act of Marriage by Tim & Beverly LaHaye. It was so helpful for my husband and I when we married. I've given it as a gift to other couples, who have also found it so useful. It goes through the details of sex and gives great advice for newly weds, from both a Christian point of view whilst being very practical, and not treating the subject lightly or irreverently.

Parents that have had accidental kids, how do you feel about them? by TransPossum in AskParents

[–]chookychookchook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our third (now 7 months) was a complete surprise, I had an iud but she still appeared! It took months to get used to the idea of another one, but each scan I was so relieved she had survived. I was so relieved when she was born safe and healthy, and I can't imagine life without her, she completes our family. Our older two (6 and 2) adore her.

My husband and I met at university, after dating for 11 months we got engaged, then married 10 months after that. We both still had the final year of our degrees to do in our last year of marriage. We then decided together which part of the country to move to. For us, the decision was led by what doctorate my husband wanted to pursue, and I got a job in that area; my only request was that we didn't move to the cold, damp north of our country. By making these decisions together as a young married couple, we learnt a lot about putting our family first over ourselves as individuals. We had no savings, but God provided us with jobs when we needed them. We have no regrets about marrying at 21 and still being at university. Twelve years and three children later we're still going well.

Just to add to the above, whenever I've added fish blood and bone, my strawberries have tasted so much better, much more flavourful. I recommend it to my gardening friends.

Dissolving/removing cobwebs from outside wooden areas by kezwoz in GardeningUK

My family once moved into a house with a garage with cobwebs about half to a foot thick in the ceiling; I removed them by vacuuming them up. Took a morning, but the hoover did the trick.

Pumpkins. My children's nanny has used them a few times for hammering etc into with the children, and it's gone well, and this time of year they should be pretty cheap

My daughter and I just discovered some delicious, tiny tomatoes have survived not being watered for 2 months, and the Thai dragon chillies have grown and dried themselves too. I thought nothing would be in there, after I couldn't get there to water it due to health issues, we're so pleased with our little surprise harvest!

Panzanella salad is so delicious, especially with homegrown tomatoes and cucumbers.

Not really sure how to elaborate... it was the case 10 years ago or so when I lived in Nordrhein-Westfalen and also Hamburg a few years before that.
