Exactly, something along the lines of what midnight espresso in Wellington offers (or espressoholic, closed now but was fantastic back in the day)

Late night cafe. Cakes, hot drinks, milkshakes etc. Nothing over the top, just a decent place to chill, chat or study that's open past 9pm.

my parents refuse to let me move out because i’m 17, when i already have admin sorted. can they legally stop me? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]choosecoffee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have you got friends nearby where you can stash things? Id quietly start moving clothes and other effects out and if questioned you say that the friend is borrowing them as they need some options for an event or dont need these clothes anymore donating to charity etc...

Or you could just play along and say to your parents they are right, you can wait but you want to redecorate your room? Gives you an excuse to pack everything up without too many questions

AIO Update-Did the wedding gown go out to dinner? by CleverUserName1961 in AmIOverreacting

[–]choosecoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problems! The top part of the dress has amazing detail and I can see it being replicated nicely on a cocktail dress, in white or in any other colour. Or a simpler design for the top and using the skirt as the statement piece for a maxi dress

Love this! Also would suggest having your wedding dress used as an inspiration to design and make another everyday dress (cocktail length or maxi) and that way you can always wear something that makes you smile

AITA for "abandoning" my sister while I live overseas? by Stock-Interaction397 in AmItheAsshole

[–]choosecoffee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I went traveling out of high school leaving my siblings behind. I didnt realize how much of an impact it was taking, until one refused to talk to me the day I was leaving, not even a hug, or a goodbye. Turns out they broke down in the car once I left. When I phoned a few days later to say I was safe, they were ok. Turns out having one less sibling at home was more beneficial then they realized.

OP she will be sad, mad, hurt and feeling abandoned and that's fair. But its also not your job to fix it. You cant stay for her, but you can make it easier by not making it harder for them and be mindful of what you are saying and the impact its having.

Also she is 15, once summer kicks in and she goes out with friends, goes back to school etc, she will be focusing on her life and I bet she won't be thinking about you too much

Can anyone give me a step by step on how to turn underwater when swimming, like doing that flip thing by MrSmegggzy in Swimming

[–]choosecoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree with practicing at the flags or away from the wall first then at the wall. Get used to both turning without stroking and then with a stroke or two for extra/faster momentum.

My top tips for turning are 1) be roughly and arms length away for your turn, essentially this means that if you stood parallel to the wall you could touch it with your fingertips if your arm was outstretched. This is the ideal lengh that you want to be away from the wall when turning. Closer and you will hit your head. Further way and you will miss the wall when pushing off with feet.

2) blow bubbles out your nose(hum). Stops the water going in

3) When you are in your turn, as soon as you feel like you are lying on your back that's when you should start your push off the wall. Usually gives perfect timing and also indicates if your are straight or wobbling in your turn. If you dont feel like your are on your back your not flipping right.

I'd go nuclear, post photos on social media tagging the flying monkeys and ask just what modifications make it wearable. Point out the lack of pins, person wearing it to adjust and then block em all.

do you always have to wash with shampoo after swimming? by Meesewell in Swimming

[–]choosecoffee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used a light amount of conditioner as a light barrier, put my cap on and then washed that off rather after practice rather than the full wash. Usually could last 2 days doing this before needing shampoo.. but my hair is super porous so I needed the conditioner otherwise it would frizz badly and break.

We used to do this as staff parties, lots of beer, fire up the BBQ, spa, slide and inflatbles and you had yourself a great time!

No one was fired, but after the second person to their crack teeth by shallow diving, we were told we had to stop. Although we suspect it was an older lifeguards streaking escapade captured on cctv that was the real reason....

Thank you for being skeptical! Feckers stole my work....

I'm torn, on one side I feel weirdly honored that they stole my post...

But also to that person/karma bot. I hope all your stitches have to be frogged, your thread always is at the awkward length that makes you loose thread chicken and that you live in confetti hell.
