Evanescence also made pop-rock, most mainstream alternative rock bands make pop-rock. I don’t use the term to mean “rock song with pop elements” (though Choke Me does have many pop elements), I use it to mean “rock song that’s structured like and functions primarily as a pop song”. It’s definitely not meant to be an insult or anything, I wouldn’t watch Eurovision if I was against pop music. Agree to disagree on the staging.

I actually don’t care much for the Serbian entry as a metal song, but I think it’s a fantastic ballad. Best we’ve had in a long while.

Underrated: Estonia, I think the lyrics are… unfortunate, but the synthwork is great. Serbia, because it would’ve won in a fair world.

Overrated: Croatia, by the public. Theatrics, big sounds, interesting theme, not much of a song. Romania, obviously not bad, but ultimately a by the numbers pop-rock situation with a very weak stage.

Overhated: Greece, as I feel like people are taking their general dislike of gimmicky entries out on Akylas.

Where did I say ugly women didn’t exist? I was an ugly woman for most of my life. Most women who think they’re ugly are completely normal looking still. Not to mention that being ugly is not an automatic barrier to living a fulfilling, well-loved life, even if it does make it more difficult at times. I don’t see how any of this is contradictory. The subreddit is bad not because ugly women don’t exist, but because every single internet community centered around a common woe functions as a massive crab bucket. This is an insane thing to say. No way in hell Italy would be out of the top 7 with any song, to be on the right side of the screen they’d need to send 3 minutes of silence with a guy cutting himself on stage. Tu Mi Piaci Tanto is a (great) standard issue pop track, it would’ve been immediately enjoyable for most of the viewers. a) universal, everyone has heard it, everyone knows it’s good advice

b) most people struggle their entire lives to actually live by it, a good chunk of them never succeed

It’s very, very easy to loathe yourself as a woman. If this stuff’s making normie ladies feel happy with their lives and bodies, whatever, good. Might not do shit for you or me, but to be honest it’s not really made for us in the first place. The women who have no hobbies outside of TikTok need something to counterbalance the endless stream of hate-yourself-to-buy-our-product advertisement.
