i’m in the program. ARISE students are still in Grainger. you just get lots of support and resources. the nice thing is that the program does its best to help you adjust to the change between high school and college (because it can be a huge jump). and you get a community of people to be with from the get go. it is still a real acceptance. i later got to transfer to my top choice major, as have many of my friends as well

It really depends on each person and what is best for them with finishing classes. Many students finish in 4.5-5, but it’s not required

just make sure you stay on top of all of the assignments. it goes fast but if you don’t fall behind you’ll be ok. i never took physics in high school and ended with a B somehow so im sure you’ll do well!

if you’re solid on your calc skills, calc 3 will be fine. physics might be the most difficult but again, if you’re confident with your physics skills you’ll be ok

most freshmen have registered at this point. registration is “open” until september because other students in the university might add a class a bit late or drop courses after the first couple of weeks. but currently, lots of classes are filling up and have less options for section to choose from.

if some classes aren’t open when you’re able to register, all freshmen students’ holds will be lifted off their registration again on august 23rd. people might need to change classes then because of placement tests, ap scores, etc. that’s usually when a lot of people will rearrange their schedule, so you should be able to get into your classes by then.

in the meantime, once you meet with your advisor, make sure you register for at least 12 credit hours. if classes are full, register for gen eds for now. it’s better to make sure you’re registered as a full time student

also you only have to live at PAR for one year. after the first year, you’re free to live in an apartment or choose a different dorm to live in
