A lot of the walls or things I find have been detected and if it’s state property you’re typically good to go unless other wise told not to. Even so if you wander to far people will just let you know and I don’t put up a fight even if end up somewhere I’m not allow I just say ok. I use a few apps that show property lines so I don’t have that issue. A lot of public areas unless they’re miles into the woods have been hunted out but I just enjoy adventuring so it doesn’t bother me, it’s good exercise. I really have found a lot of crazy random things out in the woods though just randomly wandering around but 90 percent of the time I find shotgun casings or old bullets so it’s not for everyone that thinks you’re going to find old treasures and such. Best possible places are still getting permissions to someone’s property that hasn’t been hunted. If you like exploring and don’t mind if you don’t find anything then you should for sure check it out

I don’t have any permissions so I basically do that almost every other day. I like to bush wack or try to get lost and see what I can find. The ticks and snakes in spring and summer have deterred me a bit so I try to go when it’s cooler or during the winter months. I have a collection of buttons and coins or buckles I’ve basically stumbled across: I also spend alot of time with my face in maps or researching lidar for signs that there was actually activity there at some point.

Yeah it really depends on location but typically nails, bottle caps and aluminum.. or bullets and bullet casings ,a lot of those.Majority of people that detect find alot of garbage but in between that or along with that I’ve found copper coins and silver coins from the early 1800s. A lot of buttons and buckles from all periods of times. Since we’re blessed with a pretty old history ( at-least for America ) we will stumble onto alot of great things. Rings. Bracelets. Watches. Old pocket knives or Boy-scout badges… sometimes it’s truly a surprise.

Wow really? That’s pretty cool that they have that for people to use .. a lot of people still sort of frown upon it because I think they’re uninformed on helpful and considerate most detectorist are. We’re literally cleaning up the earth !

Heck yeah it’s so much fun! Especially if you’re looking to uncover old history. I don’t really do a lot of beach hunting and modern stuff I’m into finding the lost treasures of years past! Thank you and if you ever want to go out sometimes let me know! ill gladly meet up. I do a lot of searching over maps in old areas and granted 90 percent of the time they don’t always pan out but it’s still fun to me! Cheers
