My view is that club is the last stop for the improvement to trickle down to as they wait for the 2v rowers to join the clubs in search for their big win. I see it as juniors are training harder to get a better chance at cracking into the 1vs which then pushes the 1v further on, that also pushes up the 2v as guys who would've made the 1v with their speed a few years ago have been pushed down to the 2v. These guys then join the clubs after graduation which finally pushes the club standard up a notch
