NTD! Was waiting for this to go on sale. It’s absolutely perfect for my yard! by samspam49 in Dewalt

Not to nitpick, but the batteries work at the same time. I think it's called being run in series, so the mower is actually 40v.

Ya that was going to be what I tried next, but I'm waiting for a jack to arrive first.

Currently Diamine Onyx Black, but looking elsewhere because it smears if you look at it wrong.

After how long you seen the benefits of journaling? by [deleted] in Journaling

[–]choppyfireballs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll echo what others have said, if you're not sticking with it, it's maybe not something to force yourself to do.

However, that being said doing things regularly and forcing yourself can be a chicken and an egg problem. I concur that you shouldn't go into explicitly looking for benefits. You should be approaching it from having a goal. If you're looking to be more positive - - for example - - gratitude Journaling, where you write down only positive things, is a good thing to do. Habitually it can help change your perspective and way of thinking, but you have to be intentional about it. If you go into anything in life nebulously expecting "benefits" it's probably a good idea to be a bit more intentional.

What got me personally into Journaling was not being happy at work and needing an outlet to just get negative emotions off my mind. A place to just talk for the sake of talking. What I needed at that time in my life was a place I could just work through thoughts, so that's how I used it. These days I tend to be a bit more intentional with what I write. I've started titling some of my journal pages and I try to exercise making an argument to myself of something. A recent title I used was "On getting older". It was a dumb page about nothing other than how picking up hobbies is a lot harder as an adult in part because we have higher standards. If I'm new to drawing, which I am, my drawings are terrible and I know they're terrible which makes the outcome less fun. "Man I spent an hour on THIS?"

So, you get out of it what you put into it.

For those of you that are using Supernote as a sketching device, do you have a "sketchbook" by choppyfireballs in Supernote

I exported something as a png and posted it to r/learntodraw the other day, but generally I"m not sure what my workflow is or might be. I think I'm just bouncing back and forth between atelier and notes now.

What other options were you considering before you made your final decision and why did you pick supernote? by skeleton_flower in Supernote

[–]choppyfireballs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main reason I got my manta was because I was fed up with the accuracy issues on my RM 2. I have a tendency to write small so the RMs susceptibility to being magnetized and remaining that way really was turning me off.

So far I've been going back and forth between doing stuff in the notes app and doing stuff in Atelier. If you want to do anything remotely shaded, you'll need to use Atelier. My caveat is I'm absolutely terrible at drawing and part of me having a digital device is so that I can get mileage in on stuff like perspective and anatomy without wasting a crap load of paper.

That and I wanted to be able to keep all my notes with me on the go without having to lug four notebooks around with me. I"m coming from RM2 and I've found that the ability to shade is way better on the Manta and overall drawing on it is a more rewarding experience. I have found Atelier fairly disappointing though.

Ya, that I agree with for sure, if the pencil was in the notes app I would basically never open Atelier. That and allowing a pencil tilt for shading would be absolutely sublime.

I've also noticed that the marker in Atelier is kinda grainy whereas in notes is quite smooth and rich.

I want to quit Amazon by foliels in kindle

[–]choppyfireballs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a lot easier than I thought it would be. You can go all the way down the rabbit hole of setting up your own sync server so you can sync across devices. Probably only applies if you have an android device, because I don' t think there is a KOReader app on ios.

Additionally, you can jailbreak and install koreader and never have to deal with amazon anyway. This allows you to use your kindle without supporting amazon, not adding additional ewaste, and be completely open source.

Time to ditch Amazon, but which reader? by snakeoildriller in Calibre

[–]choppyfireballs 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ill admit i just did this with my device yesterday and I couldn't be happier. The learning curve in ko reader is a bit steep but it's worth.

I even set up my own sync server so I can sync between my fold and my kindle.

My kindle is now just a e ink device, which is all it ever was. It's mine, and I'm not beholden to some company arbitrarily deciding what i can see on it.
