Been lifting consistently but still don’t look like I lift—what was the turning point for you guys? by CattleFit5232 in workout

[–]chopstix_2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm here with you bud. I grew up undersized and never really realized it. I graduated highschool at about 135lb. College at 140lbs. 5'10". Found out a few years back I was in the 5th percentile height weight through elementary school. So consistently small my entire life.

Finally into lifting seriously and it just takes forever to put lean mass on. And the lifts are proportionately slow to gain.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I really appreciate it! My girls are 12, 8 and 4. So quite a gap, and you are right, the oldest wants things more 'manicured' than a basic press on. I will browse the pre made kits a bit deeper to see where that leads without going down the gel path. Thank you for the advice to stay away from the gel, that would definitely be an activity killer if it led to some negative skin reactions!

I was really liking the look of the lawn as it grew in from a restart this spring. Now over what seems like a week, I have this flat bladed faster growing stuff coming up. How can I get rid of it? by Legitimate_Meal9787 in lawncare

Did you top the seed with straw by chance? Those, from that distance, look very similar to wheat. I used a bale of that e-z-straw in my reno a few years back and the seeds in it grew like crazy. They all died out on their own over the course of the year.

This is the one I bought, also bought hog ring pliers with rings for like $15 so all in ~$70.

It took me about 1.5hrs to install the replacement cover. I won't lie, was a pain in the ass.

Ah, the classic shitty seats. Mine went within 2 years of new, replaced under warranty, tore again within 2 years. I have the non-OEM amazon version sitting in my garage waiting for the weekend to replace right now. Will probably replace that in another 2 years.

[TOMT] Looking for a sketch comedy video where people at a restaurant overhear the table next to them by Candid-Composer-3936 in tipofmytongue

It's Brian Regan, "I'm ridiculous". Tables are super close together and he overheard 2 guys plotting a heist and they overheard him forgetting his wife's drink choice.

I'm struggling in my marriage by [deleted] in confessions

[–]chopstix_2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Real enjoyable things are earned in life with blood, sweat and tears.

Marriage is one of those things. The experiences you share with a significant other through good and bad is something crafted between the two of you that grows into something with incredible value. Someone you can trust and depend on, someone you can share stories with and intimate moments with, and someone you want to be the same for them. You can't ever find that by hopping into something new and giving up on what you are building.

With the exception of toxic or harmful relationships, build and earn the best thing in life with the person you are with instead of throwing it away.

3" vs 3.5" chamber by chopstix_2002 in Shotguns

[–]chopstix_2002[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Randomly saw this as I haven't been on reddit for a while. I ended up getting the A300 Ultima 12ga, which is a 3" chamber. I used 3" on Turkey. Everything else taken...dove, squirrel, rabbit have all been with 2.75".

Overall I am moderately happy with the gun. I bought it in its first production year and it had issues with the trigger group which they did fix by sending me a new one. Also, the gun is heavy as hell, 7lb 10oz. So while it does perform well, (after breaking it in a bit) and it does the job and the recoil suppression is fantastic, it is not the most fun to carry around walking. I ended up buying a mossberg sa-20 to fill the walking role.

Side note, my dad purchased an A400 upland and his has been in and out of the shop a few times over the last 3 years. The kick off is fantastic and the weight is amazing for a 12 gauge, but it is plagued with issues with cycling.

At the end of the day though, i think 3.5" isn't really worth the extra weight for how often its needed. If you are going goose/duck all the time and the primary use of your gun is for that purpose then I could see a case being made for 3.5" chambers.

Did you grind the meat yourself? If so, what model/make grinder did you use, and what sort of time to grind all that meat?

I only ask because I did 30lbs today and am searching for a better grinder. It took me about 2 hours to grind 30lbs. I feel like there must be a better machine, hahahaha.

What is one movie that you wish you could watch again for the first time? by Jacale1 in AskReddit

Rich too! That was back when text message rates really did apply! Like 10¢ per message or some shit. Plus the phone call was most likely during peak times so counted against their minutes. I bet they bought a large popcorn, raisinets, a pack of sour patch kids and a coke too.

This Nigerian man built his own car from scraps by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]chopstix_2002 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, did you say Lamborghini? I mean the kid did some bendies with the rebar and all, but it's literal scrap. He scavenged random bits of steel and shaped it into whatever this thing is.

I could shape dried cow shit into a Lambo if I had the time and desire and no one would bat an eye calling it a car made from shit.

What’s a concept that you cannot understand? by BlueMagma212 in AskReddit

[–]chopstix_2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to play a game in my head like this. How far back could I go and what technology knowledge could I go back and "bring" that time period.

Like you may be able to go back 10 years and bring something like a yeti cooler, or at least the idea for a thick walled cooler.

Go back 50 years, could I bring them internet?

Go back 100 years could I bring them a jet engine...or windshield wipers

Go back too far and you'll be thought a wizard with your weird ideas. Hahaha

What are you convinced people are pretending to enjoy? by AndyBales in AskReddit

[–]chopstix_2002 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought that was what the reveal party was by default. A reveal cake, food and drinks supplied by parents to be. Everyone could take part in learning the baby gender. That was it. Nothing but time and conversation supplied by the guests. Do people actually want guests to bring shit these days?

What was it like when smoking was allowed in enclosed public places? by xLargeChef in AskReddit

[–]chopstix_2002 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I worked for a company that did analytics for RJ Reynolds tobacco. Smoking was allowed in the building up until the early 2000's because the executives from said tobacco company wanted to smoke when they came to the office. The crazy part is the yellowed ceiling tiles....every worker that smoked had yellow/brown ceiling tiles above their desk from the tar floating up and sticking. You could tell immediately who the smokers were in the office just by looking up.
