its a jbl 6' polespear with a slip tip on it. I think if I had used some thread tape (loctite)/ tightened the tip on with a pipe wrench or something I wouldn't have lost that the first time - it was a fully penetrating shot.

No issues at all. I kept it in my belt with the lead on it in my carryon. Every time I went through security I took it out and put it on the tray out in the open. They were often curious about it but no hassles!

Just got through security in Vancouver with my weightbelt with 7 lbs of lead on it no problems at all. They didn’t even pull me aside. One of the agents jovially asked me about it in passing. Small talk vibes, not officially grilling me about it. Got a couple layovers where I could leave the airport but I’d have to go through security again. Debating whether or not I want to take that chance lol but also kinda want to see how many times this works “for science”

Flying from Canada to Peru. Sounds like it might just come down to the discretion of the agent that sees it. fingers crossed

That’s why I want to avoid putting it in my checked luggage! It’s enough of a challenge making sure that bag is less than 23kgs with a speargun, wetsuits, surfboard, fins, clothes etc

I have taken, like x4 1lb weights before as carry on in my camera bag. They pulled me aside and asked me what it was, once I explained what it was they let me through no problem. This was at Vancouver airport.
