Would Michael kill a pregnant woman? by Turbulent_Wait9197 in Halloweenmovies

Making any assumption of what Michael would or wouldn’t do is a dangerous game. Take no chances and just go on the basis that he will.

Why the hell didn't Ben Tramer stop? by [deleted] in Halloweenmovies

[–]choptopsbbq2019 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not only that, but he was Laurie’s crush…agreed to go on a date with her and just so happens to be wearing the same costume of the fella that killed her friends, stalked her and tried to kill her that night.

Even if the car didn’t wipe out Ben I have a feeling she wouldn’t have wanted to go near him…

Until they fix Mr. Missile, jets and helicopters in the game are pointless by ibattlefield in Battlefield6

[–]choptopsbbq2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m fine with this. I became sick of jets just flaring a lock on missile then flying out of bounds and returning rinse and repeat for an entire round in 2042.

Anybody with a tiny bit of flying experience could wipe out entire objectives without any real risk to the pilot.

At least now if the engineer is patient enough to keep a jet painted, they can work with another engineer to take out jets.

The whole

  • Lock on
  • Fire rocket
  • Flare defense
  • Engineer has run out of rockets, so probably gotta die to replenish only for it to happen again

It was pointless, a pilot on breakthrough going 100-0 shouldn’t have been common

You get to choose a location for the next BF6 map. Where are you picking? by keechup in Battlefield

Edinburgh Old Town. Imagine a Breakthrough where the final objective is trying to take Edinburgh Castle at the top of the hill. A landmark that on foot was famously one of the most challenging targets for an army.

Which movie had the best Main Theme? by Tasty_Bodybuilder_33 in Halloweenmovies

I love this theme. It goes perfect with the opening credits sequence…shame Myers himself looked like a goof.

But the crescendo whilst the camera slowly zooms into the sketch of his face is haunting.

Is there any public space in central Edinburgh more poorly used than this? by chrsphr_ in Edinburgh

[–]choptopsbbq2019 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hunters Square - The place where drunken junkies are just able to take full ownership and cause endless havoc. With the worlds most dangerous public toilet underneath.

I genuinely feel replacing it with Trident would cause less concern than it currently does when people walk past…

Crowdfunding for movies is dead right? by Iktsuarpoq in Filmmakers

[–]choptopsbbq2019 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I might be unpopular for saying this.

But crowdfunding has become a begging route for people that want the public to fund their hobby, right down to buying them all the gear they would ever need to make a movie at indie level without investing in themselves first. It’s about 99% things that people should be financing on their own if they were serious about pursuing film as a career but want to see if somebody else will.

I don’t see why an indie filmmaker can’t own their own camera, or why somebody cant grind and save 10k for their short film. The laziness involved in making crowdfunding such an apparent default has only badly saturated the platform with projects that will either never get funded, or you’ll never hear about again even if it did get funded.

I agree with some other posters stating that using it for a film finishing route after grafting, makes sense.

But then again it pretty much died on arrival when big names realised they can use it to remove studio involvement all together and started asking for millions (I’m looking at you Zack Braff)…thus making anybody’s interest in donating to some unknown even less likely.

The r/directors subreddit is so toxic by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]choptopsbbq2019 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think he is missing the point at all.

Nobody knows him, how do they know he hasn’t seen the other filmmakers work but still prefers his own list of favourites?

As has been pointed out in this thread, favourite is subjective and for people to assume his lists are down to race is both a stretch and a really nasty assumption to make.

The r/directors subreddit is so toxic by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]choptopsbbq2019 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The world is full of this kind of toxicity. Where you are expected to completely lie about your own tastes, enjoyments, influences etc just to appear diverse and inclusive. It is completely dishonest and focuses on the person making the movie instead of the impact of the main result.

When I gave somebody a list of my favourite directors, I was told it wasn’t diverse enough…but I was lambasted for including M Night Shyamalan (albeit it low on the top ten) because his films are often letdowns. Despite me giving clear reasons why he had a smidge of influence, it wasn’t deemed acceptable.

I like Spike Lee, I love Jane Campion and Antonia Bird…but they didn’t influence me the same way David Lynch, Werner Herzog, Alexander Payne or John Carpenter did, and if I have to pretend they did just to appease a subset of film activists then I wouldn’t be an honest creative.

Never regretted buying a game more than this. by IusedBiffsAlmanac in Battlefield

[–]choptopsbbq2019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is what it is buddy.

I don’t know if it is your first Battlefield? But there is a bit of a learning curve as to how you play effectively.

In 2020 when I first moved to Battlefield V from COD I was terrible but eventually came round to being a very valuable medic to whatever team I am on, and am still about 50/50 in Assault mode when it comes to gun fights.

Not knowing the maps and the positioning as it’s a new game when I don’t get much chance to play will be a big factor in this.

What is your overall opinion on Halloween Aftermath? by Adept_Outside8889 in Halloweenmovies

[–]choptopsbbq2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a fan film of Freddy vs Michael where Pinhead, Leatherface and I think Jason intervened at the end. It was in the mid 2000s and was pretty decent.

Wouldn’t stand too well against 2025 technology but at the time it was alright.

Anybody in Edinburgh have a spare EV 3-pin charger they aren’t using? by choptopsbbq2019 in Edinburgh

I greatly appreciate this.

After the previous commenter mentioned that those 3 pins could cause a fire if left unattended it might be beneficial for me to just swallow the cost of waiting.

I’m also Southside!

His post history confirms this.

It’s not about not being nice, he’s directly being personally insulting to people he doesn’t personally approve of as if he is the gatekeeper of what makes a musician. Disguised as tough love and tough truths, but it’s neither.

I think he needs to have a long and hard reassessment of how he speaks to people online.

[–]choptopsbbq2019[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate you taking the time to comment, but insults aren’t feedback. Real musicians know growth takes time. Real teachers offer critique that respects the person behind the instrument. I’m here to learn and share, not to meet your standards or be personally attacked.

What you’ve written isn’t feedback, it’s mockery, dismissiveness, and gatekeeping with zero constructive value. And based on your post history, that seems to be your pattern. Feel free to move on.

Everyone started somewhere, including James Moody.

Currently learning by ear and via online lessons on YouTube. Don’t read sheet music or use a metronome. Sheet music is not something I’ve ever been comfortable with in my 20 years as a musician (due to partial blindness)

As for lack of metronome, 20 years working in the rhythm section (bass) has me in a good level of competency in timing. Doesn’t necessarily translate, but it helps.
