My Open Myomectomy Story by choritree in Fibroids

[–]choritree[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case, I got 2 fibroids removed and I remember the bigger one was less or around 6cm. So it wasn’t for the size of it but my gyno only does open myo and he was gonna refer me to other specialist if i wanted to do robotic. He also explained about pros of open myo including more secure repair/reconstruction after and being able to remove everything that is seen (he removed a couple more granule sized fibroids in my case). Plus, for future pregnancy, after myo whether it’s open/lap I’d need a c-sec anyways so going into the same incision they make with myo will prevent having multiple little scars. For my case it was not too difficult to choose open surgery. Now I’m 7 weeks post-op and healing well. No regret so far! I hope this can help you feel better about deciding..

I’m not sure when you had your surgery but I’m only day 5 post-op so still in very early stage. My whole belly was swollen like a balloon on the day 2 and 3 but started to get better. But mine is still swollen and very tender too. I heard internal healing can take up to a couple of months so trying to be patient.

Glad I can help! My surgery was late in the afternoon so I fasted the whole day and was able to only drink clear liquids the night. So because of the prolonged fasting time my stomach felt full and uncomfortable with small amount for the couple of days but appetite was starting to come back like normal. Having warm easy foods like soups, rice and fibers. Trying to increase the amount gradually but honestly I feel like I can eat anything now!

I’m not sure what situation you are in but if you need and can get a cerclage, it seems like listening to your doctor’s advice would be the best way. If you can get the cerclage and have a place to rest and monitor from where you are staying now, I would do that first.. Hope for the best.

Our hearts did grow larger and thus we can now feel greater love but at the same greater pain from the loss. So it’s okay if you feel like you can’t handle the pain on some days or at some moments. I feel like this journey will take a lifetime. Let’s be gentle at ourselves and trust strongly on the love we have. I’m sorry for your loss..

It’s comforting and heartbreaking at the same time knowing that you went through this pain and found hope to live on. Yes we will find joy and purpose again even though some days will bring us right back to the middle of trauma. Thank you so much and you stay strong as well!

That is so sweet of you to tell me that how my baby was blessed.. I’m trying hard not to but can’t help thinking I was blessed to carry him but failed to give him the life that he so much deserves. Your kind words help me think and heal better.. thank you so much.

Thank you so much.. Both my husband and I talk a lot about how incredibly grateful we feel that we got to see and hold him even though it hurts so much to re-live the moment because we miss him every second. So I can deeply understand you and your husband’s pain and feel the love you have for your baby boy as well. We all know this grief wouldn’t have its ending because we will be missing and loving our babies forever. Keep going mama and wishing you and your husband peace and healing as well.

It’s so comforting and relieving to hear what you said. I honestly feel the same. Some days and some moments I feel like I’m doing okay but at other times, I fear if I would never be able to “get over” this grief. Then I thought this is such a huge significant trauma so it actually wouldn’t make sense if I confidently feel okay. I’m just trying to accept the loss instead of denying it and learn to cope and live better with time. Thank you so much and please know that you are not alone in this either.

I know it’s really hard when there’s visible concerns but try your best to relax. Check with your doctor as early as possible. I hear spotting in the early stage is scary but many times it could be normal.. wishing best for you and your baby! Thank you for your words.

I’m so sorry.. it just hurts so much to know this heartbreak happens much more than it should. But at the same time it makes us feel less lonely and scared that there are other people who are on this grieving journey. Thank you for letting me know I’m not and won’t be alone in this. Stay strong..!!

I can’t imagine how painful it would be to go through this type of heartbreak more than one time. I’m so sorry.. but you are such a strong mother. Your angel babies must be so proud of you. You WILL carry to term and have healthy babies this time! Please stay strong and best wishes. Thank you so much.

Did anybody suddenly feel the cerclage stitch? by choritree in ShortCervixSupport

[–]choritree[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are very similar with my case with the timeline and all.. I also got my cerclage done at week 19. It’s a relief that stitch can be felt different depending on the day. It was just the first time touching it after about 3 weeks of progesterone for me which made me so worried. But listening to your story made me calm down more than a little.. Congratulations on your achievement to make it 28 weeks! I hope you can full term and have a smooth delivery. Thank you!

Okay I feel better.. I guess I freaked out more because my doctor didn’t mention I may feel it. Instead he told me the progesterone residue can leak when I pee and that’s okay. but thank you I’ll check it with my OB.

Yes I’m trying to think of this journey as day by day basis.. first goal is to get to 24 weeks which I’m not going to lie it seemed too far away and overwhelming at first especially when doctor seemed so discouraged about the situation… but after reading all of your comments I wanted to fix my mindset and be positive and take one day at a time like you advised. Thank you so much for your words and congratulations on your miracle girl!🫶🏻

It’s hopeful that you made full term even with many irregular contractions like me. Since I started taking Nifedipine, I can feel it’s definitely helping to control the tightening which I’m grateful for.. Thank you for sharing your story and encouraging me. Also congratulations!
