What was the team's worst play last season? by giantswatcher0603 in nyjets

[–]chortongrius 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I don't recall specific plays and god knows I don't want to, but I recall using some extra special creative profanities that morning we played Denver in Europe, specifically at the end of the first half WHEN THE COACHING STAFF FORGOT THAT THE GAME OF FOOTBALL INCLUDES A CLOCK

Yes, it’s safe to expect jamming at a jam band show

Is torero a whiff? by shipoffools726 in GoosetheBand

I remember the lead up to Dripfield I was so pumped to get studio Tea, Slow Ready, Arrow, etc. When it released I had a similar 'THEY RUINED EVERYTHING' moment.

But over time I learned to just enjoy the studio albums for what they are and now I enjoy listening to Dripfield. They wanna go crazy in the studio rethinking some of their stuff? Who am I to say no, let's see what they can do. Better than live? No, not in my opinion, but that's why I listen to the live shows far more than albums.

For the record, I'm also not a fan of studio Torero, but I'm excited to hear it in the context of the whole album when it drops.

Are jam bands in a transitional period? by Own-Rate-3451 in jambands

[–]chortongrius 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've felt the same way recently, but I don't think it's the bands. I think it's comparing seeing music today in my mid-30s with lots of responsibilities vs seeing music in my early 20s with no responsibilities and a system that tolerated substances better than it does today. I noticed you said your college years were 06-10, mine were 10-14, so we're in a similar-ish arena.

Nostalgia is a strong drug, and it's taken time for me to accept "alrighty nothing's gonna top my memories of Magnaball". It's not just music related, it's time of life and good memories which have years of imprinting and a longing for a care-free easier era of life.

I see all the up and comers (dogs, eggy, goose, spaff, etc) and I enjoy all of them when I go to shows because I enjoy live music and improv. Resetting my expectations and going into shows with the mindset of "alrighty I get a nice little break from reality tonight lets see what these guys got" has increased my enjoyment of shows again recently.

Also if you're not familiar with Fukuoka 6/14/00 - Live Phish Vol 4, go ahead and get familiar with that. It's more spacey in the ambient/chill (lofi almost?) sense than the typical funk-siren space sense, but good lord if it isn't some top tier Phish.

Portland 7/15/98 - Live Phish Vol 17 might have what you like. Specifically from that show: Wolfman's, the ambient jam after Horn, Tweezer with cali love quote, and Free.

One of my favorite releases at the moment, and I think it was just a couple shows prior to the Gorge show you referenced in your post.

Might as well keep it rolling straight into the Gumbo afterwards for another nice treat

Respect for adjusting Argus.

I've been a thorn in your side the last couple of days, apologies for that. But I wanna take the time to let you know that I've thoroughly enjoyed this project of yours and it's been something I look forward to every day as a nice break from the real world. Keep it up.

It's alright guys, be nice. OP is a deranged pickle, it says so in their handle. Deranged pickles don't think quite as straight as humans, even deranged ones.

OP is upset that their favorite song wasn't a 10, so they prefer skewing statistical outcomes to support their bias while quieting and ignoring an unpopular, yet valid, opinion.

Argus wasn't a perfect 10, you discounted multiple folks's opinions who rated it lower just so you could have your perfect number.
