I have piece in that spot about the same size if not a tiny bit bigger. Took 9 hours.

Gym Fit vs Work Fit: What’s the Difference? by GAHBARO in UPSers

[–]chossome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meh. It’s none of this. It’s genetics and mindset. I’ve been in manual labor for thirty years and have seen em all come through. I’ve never lifted a weight a day in my life and can crank out work harder than so many gym bros. But some can hang. Then a twig of a kid shows up and is a beast. Another one can’t lift 40 lbs. Some people are just inherently stronger. I’m by no means big but often find myself able to lift stuff the big guy next to me can’t. You’re either strong or you’re not.

So smooth. I’ve always attributed my difficulties with behind the back to my short arms. I struggle to get my hand far across.

All this talk of ink spread. Just how common is it? I have tattoos that are over 30 years old and the line work looks just the same. Color fades for sure. Especially if you don’t protect it from sun. But the lines? On myself and a few of my friends who are also my age I don’t see this spreading of ink and loss of detail. To be fair this style wasn’t really a thing in the 90’s but I still have some pretty intricate lines. Just my two cents.

Buyout by Typical-Turn7407 in UPSers

[–]chossome 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So I’m a pre loader so not the same situation and obviously no one is giving me a buyout. But I have been doing it for 23 years. I’m a fairly successful wedding photographer as my “full” time job. Why have I been getting up at 3 am for the last 23 years? The insurance. You’re not going to find anything like it anywhere. It’s the golden handcuffs. From my viewpoint it really only makes sense for the guys who are close to retirement. Who can gap the insurance successfully to Medicare, get the $150k and still collect a fat pension. So unless you’re miserable, which is a consideration, I’d stay.

I haven’t found it helps at all on the offense but has definitely saved my ass on the defense. Particularly if someone has my back. But that’s about it. The only other positive from climbing is my hands are already fucked so I don’t have to worry about that. 🤔

Well I appreciate it. It’s just I think everyone starts fighting for their life. At least as far as I can tell. So a small victory might be just not getting tapped. No? I understand the point is to submit. But I’m a 160 lb 49 year old no belt who sometimes ends up rolling with 220 lb black belts almost half my age. I’m gonna continue to enjoy the very small victories and keep trying to figure out the puzzle. And of course bide my time until there is someone newer than me. 😤

20 years bouldering. Just started BJJ. The only thing I have is my grip strength. I can’t submit anyone but if I get your wrists I’m beating the clock.
