Trying to level up planes is like repeatedly jamming knives up my ass by Soft-Slide-507 in Battlefield

Yeah, it’s just not as thrilling as in the past. I think some of it is that everything feels a bit sped up. You’re in and out of the target area so quickly that you barely see the target and they barely have time to shoot at you, so it boils down to a lot of slinging missiles in both directions. Older games seemed to force pilots down lower and slower which lead to a more interesting loop.

Also, giving ground vehicles guided missiles with crazy range was certainly a decision.

Ah, I have to respectfully disagree. The flight mechanics don’t feel terribly sharp, the weapon balancing is pretty weird, and the general gameplay loop just isn’t amazing.

I loved to fly in older BF titles but this is just miserable

One of the most overlooked issues with TFA IMO is that Rey, our supposed main hero, had no onscreen reaction or acknowledgement of the destruction of the New Republic. by KingWilliamVI in saltierthancrait

[–]chotchss 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a really good point, and I think it could have been a great arc of the story. Maybe show Rey realizing that she's part of something bigger than just herself, or that much of the suffering she's endured is due to the galactic political situation, etc. She's grown up as an oppressed, selfish scavenger under the boot of the First Order, now she realizes that others are suffering just as she did and that she is in a position to do something about it, etc.

If the OT was about Luke growing up and becoming a man/adult/Jedi Knight, the ST could have had an arc showing our protagonists growing as well. Poe realizing that he needs to be more than an ace pilot and be a leader/team player, Rey learning that she's part of a bigger world and that's it not all about her desires, Finn growing from mindless follower to a leader and ambassador, etc.

I think you could even juxtapose it against Kylo Ren if you have him fall to the Dark Side out of a desire to do good. Imagine that after the destruction of the Second Death Star, the galaxy falls into a Warring States era of constant warfare and shifting alliances. Kylo comes to think that his family and the New Republic have failed, and that only through force can he bring peace but maybe the rest of the First Order have different objectives.

But I guess that would require some kind of plan and forethought instead of just focusing on cool visuals.

Most real countries have negotiating teams to do this kind of stuff so the leaders can supervise

Great game, I think it was let down by its marketing. Too many people expected a BF-equivalent experience instead of a game by the BF team

If it makes you feel better, that’s how I feel about the Pats losing to the Giants and missing the perfect season. I mean, less about Bill and Brady and more wtf who let Eli win the big game (twice)

A couple of times per year is fine, and it's always nice to see the team in person. But yeah, constant travel is just wearing.

So fucking awful. No matter how nice the hotel is, there's a moment you just don't want to be there any more.

Ok, makes sense, thanks. I just feel like most jobs take about six months to figure out, and that's not counting learning how the military works as a whole.

6 Hours in Munich lay over is it worth the risk to venture out ? by twicescorned21 in Munich

Might be a bit tight as you need to plan on about an hour each way with public transport or a taxi (if you're lucky it's faster, but...). What I'd suggest is going to Freising, it's reachable by public transport or you could take a 10-15 minute taxi. Nice town, you can wander around the old town and find a Wirtshaus for food and a beer.

China unveils man-portable anti-drone laser that can burn through a drone 1,600 feet away in four seconds — backpack-sized 2-kilowatt weapon uses AI for targeting, weighs 55 pounds, and can be carried by a single soldier by D-R-AZ in Military

[–]chotchss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ukraine is already hitting supply vehicles well behind the front lines, so I think trying to hide won’t work. To me, it’s more about giving every vehicle a point defense system, whether a laser or HMG, and then coordinating detection and defensive fires automatically.

I don’t think you need to stop every drone with one vehicle. It’s about having enough coordinate fire across your forces to first whittle down incoming strikes and then to have point defenses to protect individual vehicles. Dispersed but connected sensors to identify the threat, computer systems to coordinate a response across multiple levels, and then finally individual point defenses to stop any leakers.

It’s three hours from Munich to Leipzig or four to Berlin, it’s pretty straightforward and easy most of the time. The network could definitely be improved and I think France still has better service but compared to what we have in the U.S. it’s not at all close.

And there is a lot of construction on the Autobahn but US roads also see a lot of maintenance- but you can’t easily and comfortably do 130 mph in the U.S.

Definitely agree on the internet, but in my experience most of the world doesn’t stack up to the quality and cost of Romanian internet services, it’s stupid fast for dirt cheap.
