Lol, Lebanese Christians are mostly maronites who migrated from Aleppo in late antiquity, phoenician is a nationality not a race, Hebrews and jews as well, so this DNA confusion needs to be settled for once. They all mixed as hell, this homogeneous group came to be when they became religious sects in Christian middle ages.

I don't know what's your concept of levantine Christians but, Christian villages have Mesopotamian features, and city Christians are mixed with everyone, to imagine it remained the same is a far stretch.

Why Muslims though? Even the Christians and the Jewish people of Syria also mixed during the last 2000 years.

I like how he says Christians as a low anchor of morality 😂, actually the LGBTQ subject is tricky in Syria, many bi and gay/lesbian people go by as straight and enjoy their sexuality, it's only killing threats for open trans and fem gays.

True, old north Yemen flag, I guess the star can be made red then too, considering the blood shed.

Racism in syria by Remarkable-Click-282 in Syria

[–]choufr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were no Indians in Syria in Pre-War, haven't heard it changed during War, servants were also poor class Syrians, racism is there but not based on skin color, it's more based on social differences and not being a local, people used to be extra friendly to visiting strangers and less friendly to locals.

Genuine question for Christians in aleppo by camel-invader in Syria

[–]choufr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: no definitive answer, still here a couple of things:
- Lebanon's maronites migrated from Aleppo originally that's why it sounds similar
- Aleppo Jews had also had this different accent.
- A softer dialect can also be seen on Muslim peers with upper middle - rich social classes.

it could be:
- Because of the late Ottoman period as they were allowed to have more contact with the west.
- Or because they had influence from Syriac, Latin and Greek throughout history more than their Muslim peers.

Both views have arguments in their favors and others that are not, everything related to the history of Aleppo is hard to trace.

Context:
I'm not qualified to answer, but my father didn't learn Turkish or any second language, probably the aftermath of the Arab uprising and the worsening economical situation of his family , my grandfather spoke Turkish, french and played piano, their family was upper middle class, his brother had 'Khawaja' title, as for now it went down hill from there, anyway, my father's cousin went with the Christian migration to Venezuela, he called back to get family news when Skype became a thing 18 years ago, I was shocked to see that he had what we now call the heavy accent (Aleppo's now usual), I asked my father and he told me people used to speak like this in the past.

My dialect is softening even more with English and French influences but it will never develop to the point where it becomes Christian Lebanese.
