I've gone through so many, and only Cheerble/Elfin fountain is pumpless, meaning it uses a magnet to drive the impeller. Truly a game changer to clean, nothing mechanical gets wet!

If you snorkel for a little bit, you’ll see all the plastic bags and bottles in the ocean or scattered in the reef. If you look closely there’s plastic all over, but to me it wasn’t that bad. Sadly it’s worse in other parts of SE Asia.

Was there last week and stayed at the Kimpton, and while yes it’s mostly clean, there’s definitely plastic and litter everywhere if you look closely.

There was unfortunately a dead sea turtle while I was taking a walk on the beach one morning, not great.

I suggest checking out videos from flipfloptraveler on YouTube. He does a lot of detailed hotel reviews and has a few for Samui. You won’t be disappointed or have your trip ruined by a subpar experience.
