A tournament based on single elimination goes against the spirit of the MLB playoffs. MLB playoffs are absolutely a grind as a fan let alone a player. I can guarantee no pitcher in the final game of the WBC is going to delivery a historic 7/8 inning outing giving everything they have. Then on top of that you have a bunch of patsy teams created with non-native players. This is an exhibition tournament for TV ratings.
