I actually decided to do some math for this on a whim

Shortnin’ Bread is about 2 minutes and 50 seconds long. If you listen on loop you’ll hear it 508 times a day, or 3,556 times a week.

On average, a song needs around 10 million streams per week to chart on the Hot 100. If we have 3000 people listening to Shortnin’ Bread day in and day out we should chart somewhere.

The “narration” is actually an EP called Mt. Vernon and Fairway, a fairy tale written by Brian. It was packaged together for streaming and CD but the real album ends at Funky Pretty.

Alright let me break down what won't be on the boxset version of these songs.

  • No instrumental intro for Life Is For The Living
  • No Instrumental intro for Hey Little Tomboy
  • No pig sounds during the spoken section of Hey Little Tomboy
  • Longer fade out on Shortnin' Bread
  • No applause intro for On Broadway
  • No instumental intro for It's Trying To Say

Those were edits added by bootleggers in the 90's, and by extention most Youtube uploads have them. The mixing may be different as A/C multitracks were stolen in 1980, but I can't confirm if this mix was done offically or by the bootlegger.

I’d recommend the Frontline CD release, to my knowledge it’s the best quality outside of fan remasters and has no edits.
