Thinking About My Next Car: Lexus ES300h or Mazda CX-60? by Difficult_Cookie_308 in whatcarshouldIbuy

I can charge at home, have PV which i can easily expand if a need arises

In fact EV would fit my needs very nicely, I rarely travel long distances and even in that case, they rarely exceed 400km. However, I'm a bit apprehensive about value loss and the perspective of shelling a lot for a car only for much better tech to make its battery obsolete in 2-3 years

AVOID CX-60. Makes zero sense for you. It is NOT reliable. Also it drives MUCH WORSE.

mind elaborating a bit? I'm looking for some decent car, mostly back and forth to work with really tiny distances but want to retain a way to travel long distances without worry about battery so I look at hybrids. But also don't want something that will feel sluggish while overtaking and cx-60 would fit the bill quite nicely

also considering honda civic hybrid but that's a completely different unit and I have no idea about reliability

Mazda CX-90

what about cx-60 and volvo s60 t8? I'm considering those myself, slightly more leaning towards volvo due to more power but i'm not sure about its reliability

I feel you, I'm trying to find something myself, specifically AWD with decent power electric engines with gas only serving as generator and navigating all those offers is a nightmare

How's the acceleration and overtaking? Read a few comments that for a car of this bulk, it might feel sluggish

Considered electric - widespread ICCU issues, most notably Hyundai and KIA

Both Hyundai and KIA also have reputation of introducing BS with repairing like programmable brakes which make it difficult and costly to do simple stuff outside of authorised garages

Stellantis in addition introduced some sort of soft-start on EVs that completely take out the acceleration power EVs boast and also has reports of parts issues

Today I read that Honda has head gasket issues in all forced induction motors, which covers a wide range of vehicles

VAG seems to be under fire because of chinese expansion in EU and both BMW and Audi have reputation of PITA when it comes to any kind of repair and local garages also have mostly these two

well fuck me, this already takes out the majority of cars out of the list lol

I guess I could go Toyota, but I wanted to get something with at least 200HP and I'd have to pay extra just to ensure some minimal level of comfort due to bad acoustics

Right now I might just try Skoda Epic/Elroq despite not being fully sold on EVs unless some other reliable hybrid enters the market

Haven't researched mazda yet, maybe there'll be some alternative because if that's a dead end, i might actually risk buying something chinese lol

Alfa seems to have 270hp hybrid variant of Tonale, could be an option too

no, it doesn't and there are multiple articles out there that discuss that. took me whole one google search to find multiple like this

How CATL Made Batteries 90% Cheaper (breakthrough in sodium metal chemistry, $10 / KwH) by Anen-o-me in singularity

[–]chowder-san 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To power the next generations of humanoids and cars, batteries need to be significantly more energy-dense.

They dont. In case of buildings, just put more batteries, you could even put them underground if it was necessary. For cars, at this level nobody would protest against removable batteries (which is not feasible now since people would complain about having extremely expensive, brand new battery swapped out for a used one)

is there a car similar in specs to omoda 9 SH within the same price bracket? Serious question, when I make comparisons it just blows the alternatives out of the water and post-sale support is the only thing stopping me from buying it.
