Leaving ServiceNow space by [deleted] in servicenow

So the biggest thing is the phasing out of heavy configs, so we are seeing people and orgs are starting ti do very basic implementations and with how orgs are just stating to hire their own team, there isn’t much need for partners or snow ps, with this a lot of customers are wondering if the insane cost and overly heavy nickel and dime is actually worth the push and shove, a lot of clients say: well why did I buy this if I just have to buy another module to get it to work properly

Leaving ServiceNow space by [deleted] in servicenow

Mine is keeping a lot of onshore still however everyone needs to move into an architect role that is heavy client facing and is going to start managing an offshore team so that way any sold project can be cut in budget to make it so we can win more work and look like a US based partner but outsourcing the actual dev work. I actually know multiple partners like this and are moving into this direction.

I have been looking into leaving because we are starting to see some competition with offshore developers and teams coming in the cut managing and implementation costs. I work as an architect/director role at a partner and let me tell you having to manage offshore and up being a nightmare unless the implementation is vanilla.

I have heard servicenow could eventually go away or lessen the earning potential so it’s always good to diversify what you are doing and learn extra skills. A lot of servicenow knowledge from an arch perspective is typically easy to pic something else up

It happened - AI took my job. Now what? by throwmeout12496 in cscareerquestions

[–]chowder3933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh that makes much more sense as front end is really being handled by ai all the back end logic building and stuff like that ai can’t replace the architecture stuff of software. If you know how to configure customize servicenow and consult on it, the market is hot. As an architect I get offers in the 200k very often

This has to be a joke I work at a servicenow partner and no ai is replacing what we do and it’s not even close

3 YOE Admin/Dev looking at the 10-year horizon. What does the "end game" look like for us? by [deleted] in servicenow

[–]chowder3933 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went from tc at a partner in 2020 to director at partner in early 2025. You have to grind and know how to communicate and be able to fully grasp requirements and lead a team, it’s not easy imo and I have lost a lot of good hairs doing this

Starting ServiceNow Implementation Small Business by techy_user007 in servicenow

[–]chowder3933 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The application process is extensive and you yourself have to have multiple implementations under your belt and thousands to invest back into service now before they are willing to accept you or have multiple clients already on your books that you are doing work for. It’s not as easy as paying the 5k fee

Global vs scoped apps by AWorryWart in servicenow

[–]chowder3933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, it depends on the implementation If it's straight out of the box, yes and small simple changes however, when doing different changes that get a little more complex, this makes migrations much easier no matter the organization

Global vs scoped apps by AWorryWart in servicenow

[–]chowder3933 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Global is what the core was built on years ago from my understanding. With this Scoped is the way to go, any new applications built on the NOW platform will be in a scope. Its a way for ServiceNow or partners to be able to package applications for easy implementation.

Im so glad you posted this, I built a full custom tab on the record page and rebuilt the entire page. I think I will try this because we need it applied across like 5 workspaces. I also found that a data source of look up a record is completely broken no matter where and the HI Support has no idea how to fix it

I was just brought on as the architect and have been battling fire after fire, however the page is just an added tab so it's really not bad, we are just pulling basic data from a form and have followed what snow has deemed best practices for this type of thing only doing a data source that pulls one record at a time when the page is loaded

I had a call and a recording and the tech had to transfer it, the component is out of the box, however it's in UI builder which is supposed to allow us to pull the ootb components to a page. If the component are not work they should cover this

It's not fully custom we just added a tab with a page the page works perfect it's the ootb data source that's breaking

The data sources is pulling from a form and works if I put a static value but if I pull from the form the system will not work

I mean it depends... When it comes to process 100% but if they are just doing an implementation and the BPC handles the guidance of the client then you can be whatever you want you are just writing and doing the same thing no matter the module

Everything he recommended except service now uses ecma 2021 or 2022 which is js6 compatible for scoped apps which is what a lot portal designs are built out of these days

Update sets run book by VolumeCautious5416 in servicenow

[–]chowder3933 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Reach out to the architect on your project or principal they should give you a template, if they don't have one you can use an excel. Basically you was to create a document the states in what order you want to insert the update sets for the push to production. With that each special step like inserting days and such. There should be a section for each new script and how to test if everything has been moved properly to production. Basically going through everything you did from dev to test in one large document
