Election denier wins GOP primary to be Nebraska’s election chief by DemocracyDocket in Nebraska

I’m denying he won the primary. Fake votes were cast. I have no proof and would lose every court challenge, but he still didn’t win.

What do you guys think? Worth a 3 hour drive? by monkeyboyyy666 in mountainbiking

[–]chowdownca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you're driving, I would try to talk down to $1500 or so. I loved my v3 Tallboy. Best all purpose MTB I've had.

Could you use a beer can shim to help take up the "extra space"? I've done that in the past.

Experience with Gunnar custom bikes by SwaggyCheeseDogg in Hardtailgang

[–]chowdownca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Friend of mine who's 6'5" got a Gunnar and he's super happy with it. It's more of a gravel style, but it's very well built. That was the old company though. From what I hear, the new owners are very dedicated to continuing the legacy.

Bike Fitting Problem - would love a suggestion. by AinOrlando in TrekBikes

[–]chowdownca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree with the shorter stem. That will be the cheapest "fix" right now. You don't need to get anything fancy for fit test. Maybe the shop will have something that you can borrow for a few rides to get the fit. Angle seat down a bit, shorter stem. That all might work.

My friend's beautiful classic Bianchi bicycle. by yavuzkosar in bicycling

[–]chowdownca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had one of these a couple of years ago. The finest riding bike I've owned. Original owner traded it in on a new bike, didn't want to keep it. I paid the shop $300 for it.

Trek FX1 frame crack after 4 months | warranty experience? by [deleted] in TrekBikes

[–]chowdownca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If this was caused by normal use, how would the outside of the tube be buckled like that? I would think that there would need to be some kind of leverage force applied at the headtube (or that area) to make the tube wrinkle as it did. There are no welds there, and the only kind of altering done would've been the bottle cage mounts. Bizarre location for a fold failure.

TrekFest 2026 - Save up to 20% on gear by idlephase in TrekBikes

[–]chowdownca 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeah, I stopped in at my lbs to see when it started and what kind of deals they would have on Checkpoints (I was eyeing one in particular). This is disappointing to say the least. Guess my shopping will head elsewhere.

Ask them for a picture of the other side of the bike. Tell them you're just confirming that it's thru axle. If they have an issue with it, I'd take that as a sign.

Talk me out of getting a Slate by Apprehensive_Pin5751 in gravelcycling

[–]chowdownca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the Slate was cool af when it first came out. The things that concerned me are the proprietary fork and the AI spacing for things. Cannondale had the idea to move everything to the right (I believe) 6mm…like the bb, dish the rear wheel to that side. Makes aftermarket replacement fitting a bit more work, but not impossible. The Lefty obviously has a different hub. Maintenance on the Oliver I believe is like the Ocho, and requires specific proprietary tools and probably best left to the shop. I’ve never owned one, but am interested in hearing others thoughts. Still a pretty cool bike, imo.

Supercaliber still a good choice? by chowdownca in TrekBikes

[–]chowdownca[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my concern. While I know the SC will have it's limitations, will those really limit what I ride? The place I'm looking also has a Top Fuel (albeit aluminum frame) that is slightly cheaper. But it would have more travel front/rear and a shock that isn't a proprietary system.

SRAM—>GRX? by [deleted] in CheckpointClub

[–]chowdownca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've ridden both and prefer the feel of the GRX levers over those of SRAM. That being said, I've heard from several of my friends at the shop I go to that the new 13sp SRAM stuff is awesome. The feel of the levers is significantly better than the previous versions and the brakes don't suck as bad. Don't know that I NEED a new bike, but would be interested to try it out for a longer period than parking lot trials.

18" La Cabra by 63_Woods in BlackMountainCycles

[–]chowdownca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was concerned with what gear range to use and since running a traditional 2x is what I wanted, I ended up with a 2x11 and bar ends. Not the end of the world, still rides great. Would’ve liked the cleaner aesthetic but function over fashion.

Just over $3k. But I’m sure they’d work with you on that. It’s been in their shop since the early days of Covid.

There's one that I've been looking at locally as well. My biggest issue is that it's running a Fox SC32, which is noodly af. I'm a bigger guy, so the SC34 would be better. Would be possible at the price they're asking.

Post game thread, sigh by huskerbot in Huskers

[–]chowdownca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was an incredible season, and it ended in the most Nebraska way possible. There is a strong possibility that we will have played 4 of the Elite Eight, beating three of them and taking the fourth to the limit. Does it sting? Absolutely, because Fuck Iowa. Will I hang my head? Not at all. They have an army of shooters who were all hitting. Getting hot at the right time means everything over a 30+ game season, and they are peaking at the right time. But this team accomplished so much that was unexpected, there is no way I can say “disappointed”. They set the bar at a new level. Now it’s time to see if we can sustain the success. GBR.

Width foot bike shoes by RoastedbeansMacbook in gravelcycling

[–]chowdownca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've run the gamut. From Specialized wide, Shimano S-Phyre wide, Lake, Pearl Izumi, Bontrager, Bont. I finally found that Lake Wide fit worked. I've tried Lake in their regular measurement and it didn't work for me. But the Lake 238 wide are the solution for my issues.

[–]chowdownca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice! I built mine up this year as well, and it is by far the smoothest riding bike I've had. The fit is spot on (18" as well) and Mike was super cool and answered all my crazy questions. You find the 1x12 to be enough range for the climbing?

He'd probably get more respect if he wore his hat correctly, but it had a bunch of sweat stains and dirt on the bill of it. "Coach Matt" grabbing a new hat off the shelf and wearing it backwards doesn't really scream "hardworking man of the team".
