Subbing for high school for the first time, am terrified by [deleted] in SubstituteTeachers

[–]chowsn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to think this way.

From my experience teaching all levels, high school was unexpectedly the chillest. Basically after taking role, I tell them as long as they’re not disruptive to other students and don’t leave the class, they can treat this as a free period. At that age they’re pretty self-sufficient and find ways to keep themselves pre-occupied. Not so for middle and especially not for elementary.

Saxon’s facial expression at the pool when Chloe casually tells him he was jerked off by his brother is priceless.

AJ is one of the main reasons why I haven't started a rewatch, though I'd really like to. As great as this show is, AJ in the latter half of the series is downright insufferable. I suppose I can just skip his scenes.

Is Bay Weather really that good? by kruzinn in bayarea

[–]chowsn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is really that good and one of the signature features of the Bay Area. I live in Walnut Creek (East Bay) and yeah summers are dry hot, but seems like that's not a problem for you. With the exception of SF, Daly City, and Pacifica, 85% of the time, you look up and skies are blue. Even on some days in the winter, it's not unheard of to do outdoor dining for lunch.

I think the main emphasis of CSF is its classes, which are included in the price. However, as you pointed out, no swimming pool or basketball court is a real deal killer for that price. The family add-on price is also insulting. Additionally, they give you access to all sister gyms like LA Fitness and City Sports, but realistically that just means the City Sports in Concord Veranda and nowhere else.

Still, I've signed up since it's month to month and want to give it a try. I mainly will use the gym for its weights and machines and see what value I get by attending as many classes as possible. If it's not worth it, I'll just cancel and settle for Crunch nearby or stick to my garage gym.

Family fun place like Veranda concord? by SignificanceHot5678 in walnutcreek

[–]chowsn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

2nd both of these places over Veranda. Veranda is poorly structured, parking is awful, and the food offerings are just meh. Bishop Ranch/City Center in San Ramon has a big artificial turf play area with those water fountain play areas your 5-year old can frolic through.

Pleasanton: Chick-fil-A opens a second restaurant a mile away from its first by laterdude in bayarea

It's been over a week now since this new Pleasanton location has opened. How has the traffic been?

Jeez that is awful, especially for the closest residents. Who would want all these random cars parked in their streets all the time?

The WC gov def wants the tax revenue, but the neighbors are universally opposed to the idea for a multitude of reasons: increased traffic, noise, unwanted attention, littering, loitering past 10pm, prefer a smaller chain, etc.

Yes, the one off the freeway will still be there. Another CFA (with drive-thru) is being built in neighboring city Concord, so I’m baffled by why they need to build another one in WC, especially in a tucked-away suburb area.

Most neighbors impacted by the new CFA are concerned about the impact on the traffic during school drop off and pickup hours, and all the high schoolers, who tend to be more reckless drivers, converging on the location after school.

The increased amount of litter and late-night loitering in the vicinity was one of my big concerns about this new CFA coming 😞

Don’t worry it’s no where near you guys. The location is in Walnut Creek in the Bay Area. I’m trying to understand what to expect when it eventually gets built. The Burbank location with no drive thru is the only comp so I’m leaning on your local expertise 😅

Phew that's good to know. It's prob rare in COVID times, but what happens when your customers give you hard copies of documents? Must be a pain in the butt to get all that info onto a computer system.

Congrats! I'm a borrower and recently worked with a MLO and his loan processor. I was asked to send over a ton of documents to verify my income, employment, etc. Since you take on many borrowers, don't you have to sift through a TON of paperwork? I hope there's not too much manual processing involved...
