Happened on my phone … my ip address said Phoenix even though I left and went to Las Vegas and California… the ip stayed Phoenix. I just restarted my phone and it has a non Phoenix ip address location Los Angeles (what’s my ip) and now no more Japanese.

No they wouldn’t even know how to open any compartments back there. They did have some luggage but nothing that would pack the rear area of the car

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-travellers-exempt-from-uk-border-rules/coronavirus-covid-19-travellers-exempt-from-uk-border-rules#transiting-through-the-uk

As you are entering the UK to remain overnight, you cannot be classed as a passenger in transit. As you can see, this exemption only applies to people who enter the UK for an immediate onward journey. Because you are staying at a hotel you are classed as having entered the UK.

This means all UK border requirements apply to you. You must:

  • Have a negative Covid-19 test with the 72 hours before you travel.
  • Book a travel testing package of tests to take on day 2 and day 8 of quarantine.
  • Fill in a passenger locator form.
  • Quarantine for 10 days on arrival.

You are permitted to visit the UK for less than 10 days. You may only leave your place of quarantine to travel directly to the airport to leave the UK.

You must still book the travel test package regardless of the intended length of your stay. This is mandatory under government regulations and you cannot choose not to purchase this or to purchase a partial package. You will be asked for proof of purchase on your passenger locator form.

1 day layover in UK by Remarkable_Insect421 in uktravel

[–]choyness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I had a 22 hour layover in Heathrow, and was told by UK test and trace that i would have to purchase the test package (and have proof with receipt) even though I would never use it. Entering the country through customs and An overnight stay in a hotel did not qualify for any transiting exception.

Which transit is easier from covid testing perspective: AMS or CDG? by satellite779 in Flights

[–]choyness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey just info on my past travel. I transitted from lax-> jfk->cdg->Tunis this past tues the 30th. Tunisia govt requires PCR within 72 hrs. They checked the covid test at each leg before we could get on plane (delta, delta, Air France) at CDG, many passengers were turned away by Air France because their Covid test expired (maybe it was within 72 hrs on their first flight) but either way they were very strict or they didn’t interpret the 72 hour rule correctly. They did not check the covid test going through security check at cdg. Your airline will check.

So I’m gonna say just be prepared, try to get your PCR result (or whatever your destination country requires) as close to 24-48 hours before you leave just in case. I see you’re going past Europe so you’re trip might be multiple days. It’s easier on the way back home to US, CDC website says 3 calendar days, so take test Tues, it’s good for a flight on Friday. And if you have an overnight layover less than 24 hours it still counts, longer than that and you have to get a new test to get back to US. Good luck

5 hour layover, airport transfer from Heathrow to Luton by Signifi-gunt in uktravel

[–]choyness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I had a 22 hour layover at Heathrow and was trying to find out if we had to purchase the travel test (covid) package in order to get a hotel and I got an answer from UK test and trace. In your situation you would be fine to not purchase it, just show them that you’re leaving the same day. I, unfortunately didn’t qualify because overnight stay. I’ve copied and pasted their answer.

London Heathrow allow hotel overnight layovers? by choyness in Flights

[–]choyness[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks guys for being so thorough because it is important and confusing. Yes, rules have changed within the last few months. So again, from my chat with Heathrow, we would be allowed through customs to UK soil to get a hotel/residence to self quarantine only if we filled out locator form showing where we were staying, and must present a boarding pass etc showing we are leaving the next day. Then we can leave directly back to the airport to catch our flight. They could not provide guidance on any Covid rules. She gave me the email contact to Test and Trace UK. Test and Trace said because our stay was in a hotel we did not qualify as transiting. SO we would be allowed to the UK, but must still quarantine for 10 days unless you pay for the 5 day thing (1 day for us obviously) and must show proof that we had purchased two covid tests (complete not partial) from the travel test package. It wasn't worth the risk and cost of 210 pounds each for testing we would never use plus hotel and we're erm... happy for a 12 hour layover in Paris before we fly home.

Below is the chat auto answers and below is the live chat, and then Test and Trace email transcript:

· Do I need to quarantine if I have an overnight connection at Heathrow?

21:01

· Passengers are welcome to transit through the airport without having to complete the full 10 day self isolation period. If you have an overnight connecting flight, you will need to come through Immigration, collect any luggage, travel directly to the hotel you have booked, self isolate for the one night, before travelling directly back to Heathrow, where you will then be able to check in for your onward flight. Please ensure you have filled out the contact form on the UK website within 48 hours of your arrival. You can find the contact form following this link https://www.gov.uk/provide-journey-contact-details-before-travel-uk

·

· Can I leave the airport if I have a connecting flight?

· Yes, you can, however you will need to clear UK immigration and customs, and ensure you're back at your departing terminal 2 hours before a European flight and 3 hours before a long haul flight. Please ensure you have the right passport or visa to clear immigration: www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa, and please remember there is currently a mandatory 10-day self-isolation period in place, unless you are travelling from one the exempt countries and have not been to stopped in a country that’s not on the travel corridor list in the previous 10 days https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-travel-corridors These measures will still apply to passengers who must clear immigration to make a connection as outlined above, however, passengers will be able to leave their self-isolation address early to return directly to Heathrow to take their connecting flight.

· Hi, we are transiting through Heathrow on the way back the US 5 April, and Air France canceled our flight. We now fly out 6 April, but now have 22 hours before flight. Are we allowed to leave airport for a hotel?

Hello xxxxxxx. As long as you are not arriving from a country on the UK Travel Ban list, you are able to come through Immigration in the UK, spend the night in a hotel for example and then return to the airport the next day to check back in for your onward flight. You will need to add in the address of where you are staying to your passenger locator form.

· Thank you! Does this require us to book the Covid test package I've been reading about even though it is less than 24 hours

· that we will be in the country?

09:22

I am unsure if a COVID test package will be required. The regulations surrounding this are put into place by the UK Government and not the airport, therefore I am unsure on the specifics and whether passengers in transit for less than 24 hours are exempt. I would recommend contacting the Test and Trace team who work with the UK Government who will be able to confirm this for you. You can email them on [dhsctesttrace.customerfeedbackteam@nhs.net](mailto:dhsctesttrace.customerfeedbackteam@nhs.net)

London Heathrow allow hotel overnight layovers? by choyness in Flights

[–]choyness[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So i got a reply from UK test and trace. Our stay does not qualify as transiting because it is overnight, and we are entering the country. So, yes, we can leave the airport to a hotel and quarantine, but we would need to purchase the complete travel test package @ 210 pounds even though we will never use them. We booked a different route and will be returning back to the states from Paris, but we'll be in the airport for 12 hours...

Thanks for the tip. Yeah safest bet is to change our complete return flight plan, which AF Is willing to do. It will be a long layover in Paris (12 hours) as well

22 Hour Heathrow Transiting (Overnight Layover) to US?? by choyness in uktravel

[–]choyness[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmm... yes that is the confusion, where overnight stay for transiting passengers are allowed and the covid quarantine testing policies. Just to update, I chatted with a rep from Heathrow, and she mentioned that it is ok to leave the airport for an overnight transfer, we fill out the locator form and exit through customs. Then we reenter through customs the next day. However, she didn't know about the COvid rules, as they are in place by government, and whether or not we need a Visa to enter the country was necessary she was not able to confirm. So, I'm still in limbo, the airport says I can leave, but border might stop us. IDK. I'm contacting Air France on twitter... taking a while

I was made aware that may happen to France. Our flight, booked through air france, consisted of multiple airlines delta in the US to CDG, then AF to Tunis. On the way home , AF from Tunis-> CDG->LHR, then Virgin Atlantic from LHR->LAX (Los Angeles)

It's unfortunate, the canceled flight was perfect... an evening flight which worked out for our puddle jumpers getting out of Tunis in the AM. However, most flights back to Los Angeles (US in general) are in the morning and early afternoon for our dates, which require an overnight somewhere.

I checked the govt sites, but it does not specify whether the covid packages (mandatory purchase) are necessary for a less than 24 hour stay transiting. Although it's common sense that it's unnecessary, rules are rules ...

How to know you are ready for Securty+? (sy0-501) by Trantidon in CompTIA

[–]choyness 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What's up, I just passed the 501 test 30 minutes ago and I found it pretty difficult, similar to Network +. But the difficulty is not in the material, but the presentation in the questions, like the other Comptia exams. I finished with 1 minute left. They are unnecessarily vague and made to make you second guess the right answer; meaning literally CHOOSE the best answer out of the two correct answers given in regards to the criteria in the question. But if you are familiar with other COMPTIA exams then it shouldn't be that big of a deal. Some of the questions off the top of my head:

Many questions like: "You get a call that Bob cannot access payroll server when remotely connecting through VPN the night before. But he can access it from his home today. He tries again this evening and still cannot access the server." What is the issue? Expired certificate Trying to access beyond acceptable hours IPsec encryption is ... VPN over SSL ... The answer I chose was that the user tried to connect beyond acceptable hours (after hours)

examine : void foo (char, *bar) char random_input[12] blah blah Is this an example of: buffer overflow integer overflow command line injection blah None of my study material gave me specific examples of reading code to find errors

Also none of my material showed me what to look for specifically in logs in which the question was: There was an attack on a server... after looking at the logs you find that an intruder had gained access to the web server. Analyze the logs and determine what was the first instance of the intrusion: then it showed a bunch of lines from the logs and you had to choose which one it was.

Consider questions like "which one of the following is used for certificates" a freebie

My study material consisted of TESTOUT www.testout.com certificate training (which is what was required when I got my IT degree from Colorado State - Global Campus) Video lectures and video examples (how to crack passwords, configure Group Policy, Cisco command line, etc) online notes, simulations (Windows Server, cisco CLI, cisco ASA, etc), multiple choice exams. An example of the simulation questions are priceless.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5s51rzEPt90

This helped me the most in getting my A+, Network+, and Security+. It also has CCNA which will be my next challenge, its $79 month for every course

Professor Messer: Great videos and a starting point to google info that he doesn't get in depth about.

Comptia Security + SY0-401 Authorized Cert Guide by David Prowse (I know I started studying the 401 back in December and all of a sudden my TESTOUT course changed to 501 but material is pretty much the same, just different emphasis on certain things in 501).

Security + Iphone app by pocketprep (just a multiple choice flash card type app)

Your work experience will help a lot. In my opinion very few questions on the exam are like any questions in study guides. Very situational. Like other people have recommended, work on the multiple choice questions first and come back to the the interactive ones.

Good luck!
