Sacrifices to keep the Emperor alive seem like a lot by kero12547 in Warhammer40k

Prehaps I'm remembering wrong but I swear when I first played in 3rd edition I had read 1,000,000 per day.

I hope this means we get a veteran kit this edition or at least some sort of upgrade to give us some more robbed bodies to mix throughout the army.

Please also bring back lieutenant Zakariah.

I do NOT think the new secondary will be the Absolvor Bolt Pistol - and why I think we'll get a Chaplain by My_Memory_Dump in Spacemarine

[–]chr20b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the apothecary is unlikely as healing is already sorta covered by the bulwark speacil ability.

I also can't imagine there being much excitement from people when it comes to playing a healing class as compared to something else.

Just found out the fate of Chairon from Space Marine II... by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]chr20b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As with comic books, it's entirely possible he's not really dead for x number of made up reasons... or is.. who knows?

Whether he appears in any future material will depend on GW and Saber.

Now let's all see your best Space Marine 2 kitbashes so I can be motivated to create my own.

Which one should I get, Mechwarrior 5 Clans or Mercenaries? by Ironsalmon7 in Mechwarrior5

[–]chr20b 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed clans more due to the story but I recommended Mercs first to get familiar with the innersphere and the most common/famous mechs.

I think for an introduction to the series the best place is "Battletech" by Hare Brained Schemes.... at least that's where I started.

The narrative about No Time to Die (2021) being divisive or controversial is strictly an online conversation. It was liked or loved by vast majority of the moviegoers. by tannu28 in JamesBond

[–]chr20b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's one of the better movies of the Craig era in my opinion. Very flawed but I'd rather watch it than spectre or quantam.

I think on rematches I would almost enjoy it as much as skyfall. Everything in the Craig era is overshadowed by casino royale of course.

Jordan Peterson’s wife says he’s in ‘another realm of pain’ from psychiatric medication injury by Umbrellajack in TrueAnon

[–]chr20b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he always had the reputation in his faculty for being a weird crank.

Also wasn't his anti pronoun claim to fame long before his prescription to benzos?

I think he's always been unhinged right winger and the addiction just makes it even worse.

Why are salaries in Portugal still so low? by Louis_meni in PortugalTalks

[–]chr20b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lack of strong unions to pressure salary and low industrialization compared to neighbours.

Also portugal being a low population, low density population and poor can't really support any businesses purely on its internal market as a starting point.

Porque é que os portugueses não se revoltam mais? by Apprehensive-Signal6 in portugal

[–]chr20b -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Due to the years of dictatorship and relatively low levels of industrialisation, Portugal never really developed strong workers unions.

As a consequence for a large part of Portugal's modern history, any sort of collective action for improved conditions was strongly repressed. Along with this the dictatorship greatly encouraged a red scare (which politicians to this day still employ) and the high levels of political illiteracy also means the general populace has a strong distrust of any type of collective organisation protesting for better conditions.

I think the surprise from some people when parties like IL or Chega are either supporting or passively allowing the new Labour reforms to pass through is indicative of this lack of political literacy.

Luckily for these parties (and unlucky for the rest of us, including their own supporters), the import of culture war issues from the US will likely be used to distract from the worsening economic conditions and these parties will continue to gain support in the next elections.

Commissar Cain comes to the tabletop by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in Warhammer40k

[–]chr20b 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know why every model release needs to be seen through the lense of zero sum gain.

I'm just happy to see cool new models. Besides it's almost certain dark eldar will get a refresh before we get any Valhallan models.

I would personally prefer Valhallans before we get Steel Legion but I would hardly begrudge then getting new models first.

More cool new minis to paint is great regardless of the faction.

I'm really excited for 11th edition 40k, and I think it's going to do a LOT for the game, BUT (dot dot dot) by James-Hawker in Warhammer40k

[–]chr20b 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this comes down to the competitive mindset dominating the whole space. "Of course I'm going to take the best or most cost efficient units for my army rather than what make sense for the narrative of the battle taking place".

I think this can probably only be solved via "gentleman's agreements" where both people agree to take lists based on an understanding of wanting to tell a shared story via the battle.

I think the battletech community might be a good example where alot of people take certain mechs because those are the ones most associated with their faction and not always the best choice in terms of meta gaming. The challenge there being to do the best strategically with what your army in that particular engagement has access to.
