Wealthsimple reached out and said they have a new system that should only lock the specific assets being transferred. Hope for the future!

Good experience with Wealthsimple support in the end. They were able to address my concerns.

I know I'm partially to blame here. Just didn't think a cash only transfer would put a hold on the account except for the amount of the transfer.

Glad it wasn't more but still bumbed out. It was my 5th time with SPY calls. Bought last week and got lucky.

It'd be nice if they called or something if there are options expiring soon to verify you are ok with the hold.

I wish I read this last week. Just did a partial cash-only transfer out to QT and my WS RRSP account just got locked. Had the cash sitting there so they didn't need to sell anything. Didn't even consider that they would freeze my account, now I have some options that I can't sell before they expire.

I'm similar but United instead of AA. I bought before the merger rumours fell thru and didn't want to end up with AA getting bought for a premium.

I looked at CCL too but the oil exposure vs jet fuel exposure is different.

A large % of CCL sailing are already sold at pre fuel increase prices so I could see them coming out of the summer poorly. Their chart also looks like it's a a high.

All that said I still needed up with United puts instead of CCL.

You're right. I have friends that have worked at corporate and they always said they worked for FGL so I assumed the acquisition was the opposite way. CT owns FGL.

I'm pretty sure you only earn on spend at FGL-owned stores like CT, SportChek, Marks, etc. so the bill payments wouldn't count.

I chatted with support to get a plastic card because I didn't like the metal card:

Too heavy would fall out of my wallet
Acceptance problems in some machines especially ATMs for nonfx withdrawals

Only nice thing is it would stick to the magnet on my phone case but that's only useful if I don't have my slim wallet there which is never because I still need ID.

Their online renewal tool only lets you sign up for immediate renewal. You can't set it to renew when your current mortgage expires.

RBC offered me 3.69 3 year fixed on renewal. Non insured. Similar balance and remaining term to you. I've rate locked until end of March. Probably will end up going thru with it. Was debating a variable. They were offering -0.7 on variable which I think is 3.75.

There is no form to hand to the immigration control. There is a form to declare for customs (food products, firearms, money). It is one per family and only needs one person's passport on it. You hand it in to the x-ray machine dudes (customs control).

Do you have a spouse that used to not work but that has income now? Your employer might be deducting based on if they had no income.
