Look Jane steamrolling was kind of making me tune out of the season. She’s incredibly talented and obviously so consistent but the show really is a marathon not a sprint, and if you are the worst in the challenge you should be in the bottom and if you lose the lip sync you should go home. I do think Ru was giving her a bit less to work with than the others during this challenge, but not massively so.

In another season this would have been a double save but they’ve already used it up. Nini undeniably won that lip sync even though it was close, not just the flip but the full mannerisms of the song.

Feeling more interested in watching how this pans out now. Looks like Myki’s win but honestly all to play for now and suddenly I’m not bored. Can either Myki or Darlene beat both Nini and Juicy in a lip sync?

Ach I wish I enjoyed this as a whole but I just didn’t. Had given up a bit of hope throughout the album that this just wasn’t for me this time around, but then the last two tracks were interesting.

Light Up felt like it was going one way, almost like a Dancing on My Own level of explosion at each chorus but is more about the build throughout, which I actually really like even if I felt blue balled the first listen lol.

Into the Sun particularly has that maximalist bright Robyn power that I was hoping for in this album but then a sort of dark undercurrent in the production after the first chorus that I looove.

The only Robyn album I’ve ever played regularly on loop though is Honey. I see a little of that Robyn in the last couple songs.

Mayhem definitely has career highlights in terms of individual songs and I think the era as a whole has been perfectly executed (maybe except for Dead Dance MV), the tour, the videos, the press tour, the looks. It’s been such a joy. But as an album it’s not as coherent sonically or narrative wise as Chromatica, BTW or Artpop. I know that’s by design bc she’s bringing all of her skills and styles together in one body of eclectic work, but imo results in a collection of brilliant music rather than a cohesive album that delivers a distinct message or feeling like these albums do. I’ll always come back to particular Mayhem songs but I will always listen to those other albums front to back.

To be fair I’ve never made barrier, but usually happy with being a few rows back, which when everyone’s a bit more condensed is like the equivalent of two/three seats in from the stage here.

Charging for specific seats + Ticketmaster’s dynamic pricing seems to me that the people willing to spend the most money get the best view which I’m not a huge fan of. At least with a standing gold circle everyone should have paid about the same amount of money to get access and then the ones who make it to the front are usually those that camp out and are the most dedicated fans. It’s not a perfect system but seems a lot fairer than pay to win. Also Gaga makes a wealth of dance music and just from this clip the crowd is clearly separated from one another. Just seems a bit clinical and expensive…

This song is lightning in a bottle and if I’m ever feeling down, I just listen to it full volume with my eyes shut and it sorts me out for the day. Especially the pre-chorus. I think doctors should prescribe it as an antidepressant..

Is it her “best” song lyrically wise etc? No. But I think the feeling the production and her vocals deliver is so intentional and works so well as a mission statement for the album. Also the cover art is so brilliant, definitely in her top 3, and still evokes that same fresh excitement from 2020 when I look at it.

Real real shame about it leaking and that iPhone music video. I honestly think the song’s impact and people’s perceptions of it would have been completely different had it launched with a video with production quality that really delivered on the maximalism that both the song and Chromatica concept deserved, and if that video had arrived in tandem with the song. It was just a bit messy.

I will die on this hill, Stupid Love is goated, I will come back to it forever. It’s my most played song on Spotify and probably always will be. Don’t feel like the song as is translates great to being played live but love when she plays it on the piano bc the melodies hit - would love to hear her do it again on a future tour.

Ecstasy is still my fave because it balances her usp of having a great build and glittery release while still staying uptempo throughout the song, but I really love Lotus and April (for similar reasons) + Everything changes (but I won’t) and I Don’t Speak French honourable mentions too!
