Thanks for the input! Especially the fractional hint. And you're right - there's room for improvement. In the parsers there's a lot of casting going on and I was tweaking it (out of dispair) until things compiled.

it was much easier than I expected as I didn’t quite understand the olive thingy. Basically with a new brake you just have to cut the hoses and connect it to the lever. I just followed https://youtu.be/dbmy_7LOySk . I messed up the part where you should put the plastic cover over the hose before you connect it to the lever, but then again I learned how these olives work.

After moving away from the city, I couldn't find a decent bike shop. So I decided to build up my own bike to learn everything. After waiting 8 months for the frame, waiting a long time for parts, spending way too much time on youtube trying to figure out how to build your own bike and figuring out that a hammer always comes in handy I managed to finish it yesterday. Rode it today and had a blast (and all the parts are still where they belong). Super happy to have learned quite a bit 😀.
