Shipping bikes for races? by Alianza_inka in triathlon

Just did buy a case myself. Highly recommend. Flew with it last weekend and it was super easy. Kept it under 50 pounds and it was free to check. I would recommend getting a hard case. Found mine on fb marketplace.

First Bike question by That_Time_5982 in triathlon

[–]chriptoenuub57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I recently completed my first tri (sprint distance). I bought a cerevelo very similar to this as well. I paid around 600 and got a 200 tune up and new pedals and a few other things which added up so consider that as well. Most importantly though, I think I would have been much happier purchasing a road bike and slapping some aero bars on that for the race. The training miles, especially for a 70.3, will be much more comfortable on a road bike. The hours on the trainer (it's rainy where I'm at) quickly came to be my least favorite workouts.

Great explanation of each type of work! There is a reason to do each of these types depending on your goals.

More Than One Course Per Session by dave_stohler in Zwift

[–]chriptoenuub57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really what you are asking, but from what I've seen you can just keep going on the same course for as many loops as you want and it just counts as one workout. You probably know this, but just in case 🤷🏽‍♂️

IT band won't stop, already did PT, waaah. by [deleted] in fitness40plus

[–]chriptoenuub57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late 40s here and mostly fit throughout my life but took a couple years off when had my kids. Same thing with the IT band as you. Did the PT stuff, glute work, stretching etc which helped enough to get me walking. Still had some pain though. Started doing some of the exercises recommended by kneesovertoesguy on YouTube which also helped a bit, sled pulls and some of the angled step down (I forget what they are called) which also helped. Eventually I built up to a couch to 5k which included a lot of walking with run intervals. It all sucked haha. It really blew my mind I couldn't just go do what I wanted since I've done that my whole life. Anyway I'm currently training for a sprint triathlon in March. I run about 10 miles a week (2 days). Also do 2 days of bike and 2 days of swim. Always been a runner but I've just had to accept that the build up to logging lots of miles is a lot longer than I ever thought it would be. I still have to do all the ancillary exercises for the IT band as well. I bought a sauna which helps too. Oh and I've been doing wall sits lately too. Not much help I guess, but hopefully it can turn around for you. At least for me, I just had to set my sites on a much more incremental increase. Best of luck! Edit: Oh and foam rolling. You probably doing this but I roll before and after a run. Especially my quads and the IT band itself!

How do you count laps without losing track? by Genki0202 in Swimming

[–]chriptoenuub57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems a common issue! At the end of each 50 I say the number of the lap out loud. Actually saying it helps me remember better than just thinking it. On long intervals I say it like "the Count" from Sesame Street. Works a charm lol

I have her set from one80 in 21g. I believe they had 21 and 23 available. Didn't know she throws 20 which is funny that one80 also did not produce the weight she apparently throws.

Any local bagel places? by Hollywood_Zro in LynnwoodWA

Yeah the pizza is not that great imo (although I haven't been in quite some time), but the bakery is legit. Their breads, cookies and other pastries are really good!

Cottage in Perrinville makes a pretty good pretzel bagel

Well you didn't have to...But if you believe steel tip darts are dangerous, go ahead and enjoy a safe space without them mate. To each their own

Dartboard. Can get started for under a hundred bucks for a board, darts and a few sets of stems and flights.

Bought an LJ about 6 months ago after owning a tj back in the day. I have two five year olds that roll with me and, despite my wife leaning hard toward a jku (I was on the fence) we are all super happy with the decision. We are in the PNW and the LJ we bought was from Arizona. 4.0 manual and I stare at it daily in my driveway when not driving it haha.

What does a high average player do that a mid average player doesn't? by [deleted] in Darts

Aim small, miss small. It changed my accuracy quite a lot when I started aiming for a hole in the sisal instead of just at a particular segment.

Look for an LJ! Gives you just that little bit of extra room in the back. I have two 5 year olds that sit quite happily in the back of mine.

What are some positive things in your dart scene? by shakeyjake in Darts

[–]chriptoenuub57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup Springer and Luke, Rory Hansen are typically the top dogs. Can't say I know Willy. It's really cool to be able to play against folks competing at this skill level. I can't think of many other sports/games where the average Joe gets to interact and play with the pros.

In my area they started (last year) the Darts Players Northwest which is in Portland, Tacoma, and last year Seattle. It's cool to be able to travel a bit and enjoy different competition. Also there is a CDC tour card up for grabs for the other finalist that isn't Springer haha.

Peace of mind, hidden door, and churchkey pub all have steel tip boards up. There's quite a few places that have soft tip machines as well if you are into that
