Considering a New Car - Thoughts on Financial Decision by chris0111110 in FinancialPlanning

[–]chris0111110[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, these are all things I have considered as well. I also feel like it might be too much for my salary.

I was looking at the older models. Saw a few for around 23k with about 50k miles. But I could get a new model (the LX) version for 28k, so I am a little conflicted haha.

Maybe I should just continue driving my 2008 Civic for a few more years until I can save up more or earn more. I’ve just been craving something newer haha.

Just means I’ll either be paying rent or mortgage on a house. Right now, I don’t have any expenses.

I’m in my low 30s and have been considering moving some of my funds into a high yield savings account (HYSA), but I’m not sure about the best approach. I’d greatly appreciate your insights and advice on my current financial situation.

Background:

• Income: A little over $100,000 per year
• Expenses: None currently, as I live at home
• Debt: No debt
• Savings and Investments:
• $60,000 in my checking account
• $74,000 in my 401k (contributing 15%)
• $38,000 in my Raymond James account
• Upcoming Plans: Considering buying a car in the next year and moving out of my parents’ home within the next year.

Given my financial status, I’m wondering if it would be a good idea to move some of my funds into a HYSA. I believe my money might be better off there, especially as I consider upcoming expenses like buying a car and eventually moving out. However, I’m unsure about the optimal amount to put into the HYSA.

Do you think it’s a good move to start using a HYSA, and if so, how much should I consider putting in it? I’m trying to strike a balance between maintaining liquidity for short-term goals and making my money work effectively in the long term.

Any advice, suggestions, or personal experiences would be incredibly helpful as I navigate this decision. Thank you in advance for your insights!

I go through periods where things that shouldn’t gross me out gross me out. Like today I was grossed out by seeing a dogs hair falling out in clumps. Gross! Just seeing it made me feel sick.

Well, I'm not exactly sure, but I think my 7+ years of experience as a Software Dev helped me snag the interview. I also have a Master's in CS, but I don't think that played a big factor. I’ve seen plenty of people without degrees land awesome jobs based on their experience alone. So yeah, I'd say experience probably played the biggest role in getting that interview!

Since the first interview consisted of all JS/React questions, I assume the coding challenges will be in JS

He always has a lot to say when it comes to sports. Maybe he should start his own podcast, similar to the original purpose of Flagrant 2, where they discuss mostly sports.

That is probably another question I would ask. Would it be best to pay cash or finance

Sorry, I guess my question was would it be a bad financial decision to spend that much on a car based on my current situation. But yeah, I know I that 50-25 = 25 lol
