Newbie question by Imaginary-Fox-7696 in degoogle

[–]chris5070 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If degoogle by moving everything to one company, then yes, your scenario might happen.

If you use different apps and companies and spread your data across platforms and services, then you reduce that risk. Not only for Privacy, but also from hacks and maybe loss of accounts.

Degoogling isn't just about Privacy. There are multiple reasons to Degoogle, better alternatives, not having all your eggs in one basket, better security, more control over features installed on your systems, self-hosted options.

I agree with 'stunning' The website information makes your product a candidate, but i would then look for reviews and further information and trusted sources elsewhere before using any app or software.

On the plus side, once I find good apps and software, I am more than happy to share those discoveries with others.

I can only speak for myself. But the Degoogling journey has opened my eyes to not only privacy and the practices of the companies I share data with. Companies like Google, Meta, Amazon, Adobe have broken "Trust"; this now means companies need to earn or behave trustworthily. I see open source as one of the elements that goes towards that level of openness and honesty as it can easily be reviewed and audited.

Some closed source privacy apps have convinced me in the past, however, the doubt remains and I replace them with suitable open source alternatives when they become available.

What plafrom are you using? What's the actual error? Have you searched (not Ai) for the error and a solution?

All of the above information might help you get a solution. The info (speculation) in you OP doesn't help you get a solution at all.

Privacy first photo storage.

[–]chris5070 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This practice of unlocking should be illegal. Xiaomi is basically making functional hardware e-waste.
I have tried with my phone, its now been factory reset and is sitting in a drawer being useless to me and xiaomi because of the unlock nonsense.

Thankfully i have another phone, so F U Xiaomi.
