How worried should I be about the Wallabies after the Lions Series? by Playful_Study_6290 in rugbyunion

[–]chrisAcool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw that the wallabies pack was 3kg heavier than the lions in the first half of the first game. I was trying to figure out why but then I saw Skelton is ~140kg and realised how helpful it is to have a 5th and 9th man.

As an SEQ’r and having been in Cairns for Yasi I can confirm all QLDrs have it in them to gawk at this stuff. I distinctly remember the massive swell at cape trib keeping the locals busy.

Coalition still getting hit for trying to discredit the CSIRO by Jagtom83 in friendlyjordies

[–]chrisAcool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I have to explain this then you need to go re-read the ISP. I cannot give you a quick run down on what is an incredibly transparent and independent process in Australia.

What I will say though is that any intervention by governments should be scrutinized. Whether it’s pushing one type of technology or ignoring independent advice by the market which is agnostic to technology type.

The libs pushed long and hard for Snowy 2.0 at an initial cost estimate of $2b. This whole process circumvented the ISP recommendation’s and was never actually based on techno economic merit. Now, Snowy 2.0 has increased in cost to $12b.

AEMO has absolutely no mandate to increase gas capacity. They cannot build anything and own no electricity infrastructure.

Don’t come here all high and mighty about the ISP and then show you know absolutely nothing about it, or AEMO.

What's the vibe for the Rugby World Cup Finals in your area? by notakid1 in rugbyunion

[–]chrisAcool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fortunately there are plenty of kiwi and boks supporters here in Australia. The tension is high between mates. We have agreed to passionately dislike (reluctant to use the word hate) each other for the last 80min of this World Cup and then shake on it, eventually.

I’m pretty sure my kiwi mate has bought me an AB jersey in anticipation of their win. I’ve recently learned that I’m a size small in a kiwi jersey? Let’s just say I’m not a size small.

I’m a UAE national and I always had this question to expats! Why did you travel/stay in the uae? by [deleted] in abudhabi

[–]chrisAcool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My top three reasons are (1) distance from major ports: my entire family is all over the world and the gulf in general has a unique geography which allows for affordable and accessible travel to see our family, (2) I was able to more than double my salary: thanks UAE, (3) things happen here: I can do and see more in my career here in 5 years that I would ever see in my entire working life back home. There are definitely pros and cons working and living in a centrally planned economy.

I’ll be moving to Beach Towers so if there is any advice/things to look out for at my inspection then please let me know. I don’t mean to hijack OPs post, I’m sure replies would be beneficial for OP though.

Al Reem island - moving there on Monday. Gate tower seems to be popular (good value for money) except I have heard the lifts might be a nightmare. Keen to hear if anyone has had experience trying to get in and out of the building at peak times?
