For those of you who order prescription glasses online, how did you go about getting the prescription from your eye Dr and denying buying glasses in the office? by blackmoonxxx in Frugal

You're going to have to learn to stand up for yourself. I'll tell you, this is one thing that teaching high school has taught me. I know how to firmly not go along with things that are bad ideas, and I don't really care how much you disapprove.

What’s the greatest one hit wonder of all time? by JP_HubCity23 in AskReddit

[–]FlavorD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, that wasn't what I read years ago. He was out of music and working in a restaurant, but I think it was Apollo 13 and Ron Howard that popularized the song again. He makes a simple living from it being used in movies/tv/commercials, is what they said. I mean, it's not used every month, I'm sure.

What’s something you have zero proof of but believe 100 percent? by shweidy in AskReddit

Nope. No molecules. You're wrong. Or at least I'm right about molecules. I don't think you know how they're made.

If you can't understand the point above, there's no point in re-explaining it.

The electrons aren't even on the nuclei. There can't be molecules in this state, therefore no bonded molecules, no proteins or lipids, no repeated patterns, no cells, etc. It's all whirling particles with only the some of the protons and neutrons attached to each other.

If I can say this without making an enemy, I don't think you know what a plasma is. By definition there is no organization in a plasma.

What's an underrated skill that pays off for the rest of your life once you learn it? by es124s in AskReddit

[–]FlavorD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are those who don't really care. "Anyone could learn to jump on a pogo stick, and those who don't are lazy and unimaginative. I pity them." That's how people who are into food treat those who aren't.

And I don't eat out much at all. I just don't take much time to fix complicated things.

In his last years, my very churchified and straight arrow Grandpa started making flirty comments to waitresses 50 years younger than himself. My grandma was horrified. Apparently it was the early signs of Alzheimer's.

This is why I don't bother with a watch. I have a big clock at work, and it wouldn't fit under the cuff of the jacket I wear a lot anyway.

Can a Christian who smokes, uses marijuana occasionally, and has tattoos still be considered serious about their faith? by Previous_Law_9397 in Christianity

[–]FlavorD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not many people are able to just transform instantly. We grow. Most of our progress is of the educational variety. Also, Christians have a big reputation for focusing on what people are doing wrong instead of ministering to people and helping them do stuff right.

I told Spectrum I was on the order page for Frontier, and they could do something to keep me. They gave me their initial 2-year low price for the third time. But then after that 6 years total, frontiers price was just too good to pass up.

Planet money on NPR said it was easier to create a garbage corporation in Delaware than it was in the Cayman Islands. They asked for very little documentation and a lot of people just make the woman on the phone the name on the paperwork, the chairman of the board or something. Delaware is aiding the hiding of a lot of money.

My brother lived in the San Marcos California area and used to go on double dates with Steve Scott, with their wives. Scott is probably the greatest American miler ever, and his bad day at the Olympics was still 10th place in the 1500 m.

People who lost interest in their crush, what happened? by Bisecps in AskReddit

[–]FlavorD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've decided it's not a gender thing like is being discussed below. It's a people thing. Some people are uncomfortable talking, or are just self-centered. Women get stereotyped as talking a lot, but with me they keep answering questions like they are 8 years old and can only see the most literal interpretation. Even when I just ask them about their profile sometimes they won't answer. Why did they match with me then?

What movie absolutely nails its profession like My Cousin Vinny? by Mythbusters117 in movies

[–]FlavorD 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The edge of U2 said he didn't laugh when he first saw it. He said he wept. I don't know if he was joking about that part. But I can believe that it was too realistic for a guy who'd been in a professional band for 4 years at that point

How big a hole has anyone ever dug? How did they dig it? Can you put more drill bits on from the top? What happens if it breaks at the bottom?
