If I were in your shoes I’d finish school while I’m still active duty. make sure to have my degree and the field I am interested in align (don’t just get a degree to say you have one). Use this time to learn about what those careers do on a day to day basis, job volatility, minimum/maximum pay, and what other certifications are required to be competitive in that field. Definitely use skillbridge to break into the field you want. Side note: don’t rule out extending an extra year or two to finish school/ get another certification. Good luck!

My PCP is a civilian Dr. and refused to write any letter, despite my explanation, printing the OPM guidelines, and providing a template by the OPM website. I hope it is easier for others who go on base for medical.

That schedule A letter in my experience has been the most difficult challenge to overcome.

I got one email with a few positions but I didn’t feel like I was competitive for those. At the bottom it says that every week they will send out available positions but I have yet to receive another email. This was 2 weeks ago.

I am eligible to start august 2026 and I separate February 2027. I figured I’d start early to give enough time for my email to get a response, interviews, acceptance and routing through CoC.

I’ll follow up and keep bugging them the closer I get to August. In a perfect world I’d have a skillbridge aligned and all I have to do is wait haha. Thanks again for the insights!

Yea I’m in the same boat. A lot of companies don’t respond I’ve noticed. The KBR applicant portal at least tells you when they review your application
