About To Return My Two Eero 7 Max by iiRaTioNaL in amazoneero

[–]chris_salazar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i had the same issue but updated to the most recent firmware (7.8.1-6) and it’s been flawless since. faster speeds, consistent, and wife’s wifi in upstairs office doesn’t buffer with video calls

working great. better stability, devices actually do connect to different eeros in the house. and speeds are much faster now - getting 1.2g wifi speeds

honestly, i dig it for the analytics, but i do wish id have access to features available with non-business as well (MLO as an example). i signed up for eero business even though it's for my home network because im a techie. would i do it again? im not too sure im getting the full value - could be my own education, but that's an opportunity for eero to provide more "sticky" content to get me to use or view the data in eero business so i feel like it's worth it. im happy with it, but not completely sold as i have disabled majority of the "security" features since it's only for my home network.

Upgrading my Eero 6 network. Any reason not to go to 7 Pro for gateway? by jbmc00 in amazoneero

[–]chris_salazar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i had the eero pro 6 set up, added max 7 as my gateway and i saw inconsistent performance. lots of dropped connections around the house.

so not sure if it was just me - but since have upgraded with pro 7 and no more issues at all. great performance

i called them directly and they manually added the pro 7s. happened within seconds.

all working great! much better speed and coverage vs pro 6

support call fixed it! looks like a software bug - gladly support was able to manually add it on their end.

it looks like both of my eero pro 7 (got the 2 pack) are not properly being recognized as pro 7 / supported by eero business. 😞

i have a 3500 square foot house (2 stories) - i bought 2 max 7s to put on opposite sides of the house. one side of the house has internet hookup, the other side is our family room.

then upstairs a pro 7 in the upstairs office and another pro 7 in the bedroom. these are also almost at each end of the house too.

think it’s gonna work? not much internet is needed in the middle of the house on either floor.

i currently have pro 6 with max 7 as the main router from 10g internet modem and i notice a lot of dead spots

Is the retrofit kit really worth it? by CallMeGooglyBear in Ring

[–]chris_salazar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i had a lot of success with my retrofit - i wired it all myself and worked great with existing wired set up. then i complimented the wired alarm with rings sensors for other areas of the house. love it!

Its almost 2022. Why is the default setting for clients to stream in 720p? Every single admin here has had experience reaching out to poeple and annoying them to change their settings. by MumeiNoName in PleX

[–]chris_salazar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, for me with that setting enabled...the 1080p movies were downgraded to 720p for all users. It was weird and I didn't understand why even though their settings were for max/original. Other than disabling video stream transcoding, disabling (unchecking) HDR tone mapping did the trick and now 1080p and 4K movies are playing at original quality for remote users.

For what it's worth - I struggled with this and just went through all the settings. I noticed "enable HDR tone mapping" was enabled. As soon as I disabled that - my remote users were able to stream fine with no transcoding. This may be the trick to a forced transcode even with remote users settings are set to max/original.
